Nail Fungi Infections

Are you embarrassed by unsightly looking toenails? Don't despair! There is a natural and safe way for you to treat this without the need of a prescription.

The use of fake nails or nail polish does not treat the underlying problem, but will only make it worse. Your nail has a disease that has to be treated. Luckily for you there is a cure out there that someone close to me has tried and which really gives amazing results.

But let us look at how the fungus lives in your toes:

All fungi thrive in places where there is plentiful food, moisture and not too much light. Take mushrooms for example: they mostly, if not always, grow in the woods under shade. Nail fungi infections is not much different. Nail fungi infections can spread extremely easy on moist feet, but when kept dry during infection, the chances of spreading is greatly reduced.

So how do we go about treating nail fungi infections?

If you are looking at preventing nail fungi infections, a good place to start would be to keep those nails trimmed. By doing this, the nail fungi will have much less chance of surviving. Also note that you shouldn't cut them to short or go picking on them, as this might loosen the nail from the nail bed, making it a very comfortable place for the nail fungi infection to settle.

If you have a nail fungi infection and your nails become discolored, you can try to put vinegar on, but that is not always the most effective thing to do. Alternatively you can go see a doctor, but sometimes it can also be another waste of money.

For a very fast cure for discolored, fungal nails, ZetaClear is quite well known and popular because it has been proven to work by a huge amount of fans.

Detox Diet - Does it Really Work?

People in general are followers. An example of this, we can see very clearly is the Presidential Race this is going on now in America. You will see Obama' s camp have their group of followers and likewise too Senator McCain's camp too. This is also evident too when it comes to fad diet plans. Nowadays we can find many obese people in their quest to lose weight keep following the latest fad on diet plan.

One of the latest fad diet plan that is fast becoming popular is the Detox diet plan. How effective this plan is hard to say as those who lost weight initially seems to gain it all back. This is because our bodies are already filled with toxins that we pick up from the air we breathe, the water that we drink, the food that we eat and even from what we use everyday. As such any steps that we will seem to be ineffectual. Our bodies has already a natural system which deal with harmful toxins that occurs naturally but it cannot cope with those which comprises of synthetic chemicals introduced into our bodies from our environments. It is not that only adults' bodies are full of toxins; studies have pointed out that even a newborn child inherits loads of toxins from his mother's body. Scientists have also claimed that the detox diets simply do not work the way they should and hence, they are totally unnecessary! The toxins within our bodies cause us to eat more than we should. And at the same time, our body ability to burn the extra calories effectively has diminished. The end results will be that all the excess calories will end up as fats deposited in our bodies. Therefore it will be wise to avoid processed foods like butter, cream and even some cheese as they have toxins in them which are harmful to us.

The best detox diet plan which you can follow is to just avoid foods which had been processed but go for foods that re organically grown. Good examples of good foods are raw fruits, vegetables which can help a person lose weight quickly. Another good thing to do is to drink more water as water will assist our bodies to increase its metabolism rate. Do not take beer, Alcohol, soda & soft drinks. Abstain from foods like white flour & Sugar as well. These types of foods provides your body with nothing except "empty calories" which ultimately gets converted to fats in our bodies. Also look for foods which contain complex carbs like potatoes. These are good for your health. If you want to consume fat, you can eat fishes such as salmon, tuna, etc. as they contain unsaturated fats (as opposed to the saturated fats containing in butter and cream that make you fat). I sincerely hope my detox diet plan helps you with fast weight loss!

Toenail Fungi

Toenail fungi are basically microscopic organisms which doesn't need sunlight to survive like most living things do. Some fungi do have beneficial uses, while other causes illness and infection.

Toenail fungi infections are typically caused by a fungus that belongs to a group of fungi called dermatophytes. Yeast and molds can also be responsible for toenail fungi infections.

All of these microscopic organisms thrive in warm, moist environment like showers and even swimming pools. They can invade your skin through tiny, invisible cuts or through a small separation between your nail and nail bed. They will only start causing problems when your nails are continually exposed to warm, moist conditions, ideal for the growth and spread of toenail fungi.

Infections with toenail fungi occur more than those of the fingernails because the toenails are more likely to be confined by dark, moist, warm environment inside the shoe. Another contributing factor may be the reduced blood flow due to the shoe which makes it more difficult for your body to detect and eliminate an infection with toenail fungi.

Toenail fungi may begin as a yellow or white spot under the tip of the nail. As the the toenail fungi spreads deeper into the nail, it may cause the nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbly edges - an unsightly and sometimes painful problem - both physically and emotionally.

One has to keep in mind that toenail fungi is not the same as athletes foot, which primarily affects the skin of the feet, but it is sometimes possible for the two to coexist and can be caused by the same fungus.

Are Health and Fitness Resolutions Worth the Effort?

A Well-Balanced Approach to Education, Exercise and Nutrition is Key to Success Says Life Time Fitness; Company's Members Demonstrate that Resolutions Do, in Fact, Come True

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- With the coming of the New Year, people are once again pondering new fitness resolutions. But, don't we hear all too often about the failed New Year's resolution? Is it really worth trying given the less-than-encouraging statistics?

Life Time Fitness (NYSE:LTM) says, "YES." And, to help prevent falling off the fitness wagon in 2008 - causing frustration, regret and discouragement for many who want a healthier, more fit and active lifestyle - the national operator of sports, professional fitness, family recreation and resort & spa centers offers its basic tips for health and fitness resolution success, along with profiles of members who are achieving just that.

"There's nothing wrong with resolving to get fit, but so many resolutions fail because they are approached in the wrong way," said Jeff Zwiefel, Senior Vice President, Life Time Fitness. "Statistics show that 50 per cent of the people who start an exercise program discontinue it in six months. However, we want to help people design and implement a well-rounded, balanced program that allows them to start a new resolution on the right foot. By following a simple set of tips, anyone can begin anew on a reasonable, sound plan based on education, exercise, and nutrition, and most importantly, maintain it."

1. RELAX. Most of what Thoreau said about life holds true for fitness - "It is the journey, not the destination." Remember that fitness is a continuous pursuit. You have the rest of your life to improve it - not just this winter or before swimsuit season starts. The goal is to improve a little bit every day, not to go from couch potato to triathlete in three weeks. Don't put too much pressure on yourself or you'll set yourself up for frustration, physical injury and failure.

2. RESEARCH. Give some forethought to your fitness approach. Many fling themselves into running or working with equipment without thinking if they really like it or if it is right for their needs. Find something you like to do, because you're much more likely to stick with it if you do. And collect information about your body - things like body weight, heart rate, body fat content, and aerobic capacity - before you start. As well, knowing how the body responds to food and exercise is critical to your success. Also, it is always a good idea to contact your doctor before starting any new diet or exercise program.

3. REACH SHORT-TERM GOALS. Know where you're at to begin with so you can decide where you want to go. List some achievable, measurable or specific targets by which to track your progress. A personal trainer is great for helping you determine what these goals should be. Remember that a complete fitness program should incorporate fitness, nutrition and education for optimum results. Your fitness program should also be a balance of cardiovascular, strength and flexibility conditioning, with a greater focus on the one that is most closely related to your individual goals.

4. REALITY CHECK. Many fitness resolutions are too aggressive or even impossible. Be realistic. If you've been sedentary for years, a walk around the block one day may equal success. Good fitness is gradual, measured improvement. No matter what the ads say, you're not going to have perfect abs or the body you had 20 years ago in ten minutes a day. If you think you will, you're bound to fail. Remember, individual results will vary.

5. REVIEW. Know that you'll have to make adjustments and course corrections along the way. Track your progress and listen to your body. If something doesn't feel right, don't force it. If you start running and it bores you to tears, or if you experience undue discomfort, try something else - reduce your intensity, increase your duration, or mix activities to keep the interest level high and utilize different muscle groups.

"If there's a theme underlying the tips for success, it's that fitness is like most other goals worth pursuing," said Zwiefel. "Resolving to be fit is important, but it's also important to have a reasonable plan, to have good information about how to get started and succeed, to make sure that your goals are achievable and reasonable, and to stick with it over the long run. Also, don't be afraid to add some variety to your program or to work out with a group who has similar interests. With this type of approach, short-term setbacks won't cause long-term failure."

So does anyone really achieve success with their resolutions? Absolutely. Here's just a sampling of individuals who have tremendous accomplishments to share:

* Jerel and Suzanne Cantrell, Allen, TX -- As a couple, Jerel and Suzanne started working out together about 18 months ago. They were high school sweethearts who have been married for about 15 years. Through three pregnancies, together they gained considerable weight. Finally in June 2006, they decided enough was enough and they joined the new Life Time Fitness that was 10 minutes from their home. With the support of a personal training and group fitness classes Jerel has lost over 100 lbs while Suzanne has dropped four dress sizes and 60 lbs. Resolutions DO come true.

Health and fitness, the African way

Type in health and fitness into your web browser and you will be inundated with thousands of results, all pertaining to health and fitness in the Western world. Try keying in health and fitness in Africa; you get nothing, completely zilch. Does this mean health and fitness is exclusive to the West? Regina Jere-Malanda tries to find the answer.

It was a good discovery. After frustratlngly yielding nothing on how and why Africans stay fit, exercise or go to the gym - or lack thereof- there ii was. NTl'owerHouse - local gyms, fitness and bodybuilding African style. The key word was "bodybuilding" and pop:

"Hey folks, you have reached a special page on this wcbsite dedicated to all ot us in Africa who are working nut bard at our local hardcore gyms, in our backyards, with limited and improvised equipment, training without the advantages Americans or Europeans have." is how the website greets you. 1 lurrah, yes Africa does have gyms.

Special? Indeed it is. Garlanded with pictures ot super-fit African men, only a visit to this Accra-based wcbsite will help explain my amazement, or is it glee. "Bodybuilding [and fitness] in Africa is quite different from the Western type of bodybuilding," says NTPowerHouse. "Here no drugs, no steroids, no supplements or protein powders. Wc simply dont have the means to afford that! Anyway we are not complaining. The Western media often refers to Africa as a place of catastrophes, civil wars, famine and other forms of atrocities. It is our aim to uncover the treasures of Africa that have long been hidden by this negative perception."

I have recently joined a gym here in the UK at quite an extortionist monthly rate, and looking at these African men so fit and healthy without the use of all the sophisticated gym equipment and supplements, has made me ponder what most ot the flabby, binge-exercising men at my gym bmher paying for. 1 now feel the gym should actually start paying them to stay home. My men in Ghana shame them hands down.

However, this should not be seen as the overall picture of African health and fitness l was researching about or a yardstick that Africans should he striving tor. But it drove home the point that, we Africans always have our own way of doing things.

In a world were working out m a gym to stay fit and healthy is a phenomenon tlut is rapidly revolutionising, Africa may not be on the same pedestal or sophisticated equipment as it is in with the West, but. as the N 1 IVnverHouse's men in Ghana prove, we have our own ingenious ways ot staying fit .nul healthy par excellence.

It is always perpetuated by health professionals how the building block ot continued health and longevity is exercise. I would dare say that in Africa, despite its enforced problems, most of us are very physically active without the need of the gym. through tending farms, housework and family chores, or even traditional dancing practised in many villages as .away ot entertainment.

And of course there is walking. Africans love to walk - and according to Western fitness gurus, this is the near-perfea exercise. With the economic problems rhat l.iden many of us. walking is free, readily available and effective. Physicians preach hmv walking contributes to a healthy heart and helps guard against obesity, high cholesterol, stroke and other disorders.

Therefore despite the derogatory insinuations that abound in the West that associate walking with poverty, walking in tact has its pluses. Be it long distances to school, to work, to letch water or firewood - its good to walk, it keeps us Africans fit. Think how many calories our ancestors must have burnt. So, what then is fitness from an African point of view? Does everyone need to go to the gym to be fit? Do Africans need to know everything from ABS to Pilates in order to be fit and health? Yes perhaps, but there is no need for any fanaticism to engulf Africa at Western proportions where ABS (really tuned tummies), for example, are big business, and just about every'IOm, Dick and Harriet, will pay through the roof to get a rock solid "six-pack".

For my sins, I have opted for the Pilates at my gym. lured by the fact that this fitness programme, according to my fitness trainer, refreshes ones physical and mental wellbeing. The fact that Pilates is a series of controlled movements that unite the body and mind and creates a direct connection to the muscles and also helps condition ones body without punishing it, did it for me. And I went for it, But is it for every African? I am yet to tell. Give me three months and it the hole in my pocket does not get bigger, 1 will reveal the result.

It should be borne in mind though that in Western culture, the importance of exercise and fitness as a means to weight loss is taken almost with religious fervour. Three years ago, 1 was travelling from Austin to San Antonio in Texas, USA. What I saw still makes me laugh to this day-a huge billboard on the highway proclaimed: "Loose weight in your sleep: that's our promise." Today, many Westerners fall prey to such adverts in the quest to lose the bulge and stay fit. Hopefully such ploys and scams are not going to Africa as the fitness revolution catches on.

Health & fitness section

I enjoyed reading the "Annual Health & Fitness" section (July 2008) of the magazine. It was very motivating. It also encouraged my husband and me to work together as a team in efforts to keep our health, nutrition and exercise in check. I hope the health and fitness section of the magazine continues its tradition. There are a lot of health and fitness magazines on shelves, but there is nothing tailored to the African-American community.

Personal Hygiene - Taking Care of Your Body

Proper hygiene goes a long way.Not taking a bath in the morning won't kill you, but are you willing to go to work or school like that? Is it good practice to take a bath only every other day? The answer is a big resounding NO. It's your body, and it's important that you get it all cleaned up before taking on the day's work. Shower or suffer the consequences!

For males:

Most men sweat more than women do. Take that to heart, and ready your shampoo and antiperspirant deodorizer. Take a bath in the morning and scrub every part of your body. Since men tend to sweat more, they're also much more prone to dandruff than women. Use an anti-dandruff shampoo if necessary. Most anti-dandruff shampoos are mild enough for the average male, but if your anti-dandruff shampoo is causing itchy and dry scalp, you're better off using a regular shampoo, or to consult a dermatologist.

Use an antiperspirant deodorizer on your underarms. Apply generously, and try to wear cool clothing as much as possible.

For females:

Even though most women don't sweat as much as men, women are advised to use deodorizers in the morning after bathing. Wear light and cool clothing as much as possible, especially when it's not too cold out.

The trick is to wear cool clothing as much as possible to prevent unnecessary sweating. The body smells when it sweats and it's an uncomfortable feeling altogether. The less you sweat, the fewer germs you need to scrub from your body when you shower in the morning.

Blepharoplasty - Risk and Rewards of Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty is generally considered a cosmetic procedure that most insurance companies will not pay for the procedure, however, if your eyelids are encroaching upon your field of vision, the procedure may be covered as "medically necessary" surgery. This surgery requires approximately 1 week of recovery time before normal daily activities can be resumed, and because this is a surgical procedure, it is important that patients be in good health and free of any infections prior to undergoing this procedure. The difference between before-and-after photos can be quite dramatic, and people generally appear much younger and more refreshed after surgery.

Blepharoplasty procedures are performed by surgeons with specialized training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and they are most commonly performed in outpatient facilities or in private professional offices. The surgery helps restore a more energetic and youthful appearance, and is an excellent procedure under local injections of anesthesia with or without sedation, or in some cases general anesthesia can be used. This is a very safe surgery, and complications are rare, there is however a small risk of infection or bleeding with any surgery.

Although blepharoplasty will not stop your eyes from aging, the procedure is usually very long lasting. This surgery is designed to correct this condition and to restore the youthful, alert appearance of your eyes and can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a facelift or browlift.

After surgery, patients may experience a tight or sore feeling in the eyelids, and medication can help to manage any discomfort. The stitches are removed in three to five days and patients who have a natural tendency to bruise easily will experience slightly more bruising in the initial recovery period. Patients may also experience some other temporary symptoms including itching, dryness, burning, tearing, blurred or double vision, or sensitivity to light.

ALA Scientifically Proven to Strengthen the Immune System

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is an Illness Preventative!

Some 1300 scientific research trials have now been carried out on Lipoic Acid, in order to understand its overall benefits, and how these aid the human body.
The findings have all been conclusive; Lipoic Acid slows the aging process by stimulating mitochondrial function also known as the cell's pantry, where energy is stored. In addition to this, Lipoic Acid improves neurological health, and glucose metabolism, and is considered to be a powerful antioxidant that can fight illness, such as Cancer.

According to researchers at Berkley University, Lipoic Acid in the R form, can restrict growth of cancer and may also reduce the chance of contracting the illness.

R-ALA Lipoic Acid, which is a far more pure form of Lipoic Acid when compared to the less-expensive S-ALA form, can assist HIV AIDS patients', as it strengths the body's immune system. R-ALA Lipoic Acid can also reduce the risk of contracting Alzheimer's or suffering from a stroke, as it improves the brain function, as well as aids in blood circulation and increases overall energy levels within the body.

However, the most important aspect of R-ALA Lipoic Acid is that it is the only water and fat soluble antioxidant, which means that it is able to be of benefit to all parts of the human body. The R-ALA form of Lipoic Acid can therefore penetrate barriers that prevent S-ALA Lipoic Acid from working effectively. R-ALA is the only form of Alpha Lipoic Acid that can safely be metabolized by the body, as it is naturally produced within our system. Whereas, the synthetic man-made form known as S-ALA that is commonly found in many health food stores, has up to 12x less of an antioxidant effect.

Colon Cleansing - How to Cleanse For Better Health

I know you have heard about it. Cleansing is spoken about a lot these days. If you want to improve your health it is a good option.

Most people have no idea the amount of toxins that have accumulated in their bodies. Even the healthiest people need a cleaning now and then.

Think about it like an oil change for your car. Every three months you take out the bad fluid and replace it with the clean stuff.

Our bodies are just like a machine. Occasionally they need a fresh start. They need a flush. If you don't clean out the pipes, they clog up and stop working properly.

For some reason, humans don't have much instinct when it comes to how they are supposed to treat their bodies. As far as consumption, we tend to gravitate towards whatever substance will harm us the most.

Soda, processed food, alcohol and cigarettes are widely used when just about everyone knows they will harm to their bodies harm. Why is this? I have no idea. Maybe we think we are invincible? Well, unfortunately we are not.

Believe it or not, most people have no idea what "good" feels like. They have felt like crap so long that "crap" is normal. When they tell someone that they feel good, they actually feel like crap, but don't even realize it.

With the amount of "crap" many people consume each day, cleansing is something every human being should incorporate into their lives.

Do you know that the health of your colon can affect just about every other organ in your body? A swollen and backed up colon can give you back pain, believe it or not. The symptoms of a congested colon can produce a list of symptoms a mile long.

A simple colon cleanse could be a person's answer to a list of health ailments impossible to list at this time. Many doctors recommend a colon cleanse as the first step towards health.

If your body is healthy, it is meant to cure itself. Think about that. We are not supposed to experience sickness with a healthy body.

Are you prepared to take control? Do a simple three day fruit fast. Eat nothing but fruit for three days and see what happens. Give your body a break from all of the "crap" and give it a chance to do what it does best.........heal itself.

Once you experience how good you are supposed to feel, you will be hooked. All it takes is a few days and a little determination. I know you can do it.

Excessive Sweating Problem? - 4 Techniques to Stop Excessive Sweating

Are you suffering from an excessive sweating problem? Your body could just simply have more sweat glands than is typical, or you could be suffering from a condition known as hyperhidrosis. If your excessive sweating problem is consistent no matter what type of activity you do or what temperatures you're in, you should consult with a doctor to find out if you have hyperhidrosis. There are certain prescriptions that may help with sweating problems.

Meanwhile, the following tips can help you control excessive sweating:

1) Check Your Deodorant You might think you're using an antiperspirant, when in fact it could simply be a deodorant. Deodorants don't help an excessive sweating problem - they merely cover up the odor. Sure we all want to smell nice, but you would like to feel dry as well right? Try to find an antiperspirant with aluminum chloride, which blocks the pores to prevent excessive sweating. Additionally, Adidas recently came out with a new antiperspirant which doesn't contain aluminum chloride but seems to be getting positive reviews. It's called 24 Hour Control CottenTech+.

2) Avoid clingy clothing Clothes that cling to your skin and prevent airflow will not help your sweating problems. A great alternative is to wear cotton, which is a fabric that's known for it's breathable qualities.

3) Wear Light Colored Clothing Nobody likes sweating through their clothing, much less having it blatantly obvious to anyone who looks. Light colored clothing will help disguise any marks that arise due to excessive sweating, as it's less visible. Dark colors attract heat, and heat will just cause your sweating to get worse.

4) Avoid Hot Drinks Get into the habit of drinking water to keep yourself from sweating excessively Hot drinks can speed up sweating. Drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day. Not only will this help control an excessive sweating problem, but water is essential for our bodies to function at their best.

How to Protect Yourself From Getting a Spider Vein

Society is definitely interesting. While people strive for perfection, they are also fascinated by imperfections. Take, for example, the dichotomy between a young and an old person. While the old person envies the younger person's wrinkle-free skin, the young person is fascinated by how the old person's skin shows the "ravages of time".

However, some skin imperfections can be prevented, like that of the annoying spider vein. The spider vein is a curious vein, which generally appears on the upper thighs and lower calves. There are many different reasons why a spider vein shows up, but luckily, there are ways that it can be prevented.

If you enjoy running or playing sports, then you probably know all about the proper footwear you should have, right? Wrong. You've probably seen at least one person running along wearing basic tennis shoes. Too many people choose to get sneakers that either look really nice, or cost next to nothing. Neither of these categories are meant for athletics.

One of the causes of a spider vein is, ironically, exercise without the right sneakers. These veins are an indication of circulatory problems caused by too much pressure on the legs. Look for sneakers with gel soles, and mesh to promote airflow through the feet. Yes, you might have to shell out a hundred bucks for a good pair, but it is worth it in the long run (no pun intended). This way, you will feel more comfortable, perform better athletically, and be secure in the fact that you're doing what you can to maintain healthy circulation.

Water Filters - Top 4 Benefits of Purified Water

Do you know that your drinking water may contain poisons, feces, and toxic metals?

If these contaminants are not removed from tap water in your house they will adversely affect your health. Our body is mostly composed of water so it's essential to drink clean water. It's recommended to drink approximately 8 glasses of water to maintain good health.

Benefits of Water Filters

Peace of mind

By filtering your tap water you have the peace of mind that you are eliminating cancer causing chemicals and organic compounds while leaving you with healthy minerals like magnesium. Aside from producing healthier water, water filters also produce better tasting water for drinking and cooking thus providing a healthy environment for your whole family.

Healthy Skin

Purified water will prevent many skin diseases and skin problems. Exposure to chlorine has been linked to health problems such as skin irritation, bronchitis, asthma, and even cancer. Chlorine has been proven as one of the major causes of early aging skin and hair. Removing the chlorine in shower water will result in younger, softer skin and healthy looking softer hair.

Improve Air Quality

Chlorine vapors can lead to severe respiratory problems like asthma and chronic bronchitis. Whole house water filters will dramatically improve indoor air quality inside your house by preventing the release of chlorine vapors.

Greater vitality

You'll have more energy because your body doesn't have to work as hard to filter out chemicals and unwanted substances that may cause stress to the lungs, liver and kidneys. Your immune system will remain healthy. Water filters also reduce the soap scum that builds up on sinks, bathtubs, and dishes so you won't have to spend time scrubbing them clean.

If you're concerned about the well being of your family invest in a water filter for your house.

You'll be glad you did.

All About Portable Drinking Water Containers

There are times when home equipment, attachments and pipes do not work or function properly which calls for efficient drinking water containers. Keep in mind that water you bring with you should still be very clean and safe for consumption to prevent the occurrence of disease as well as boost health. Portable filtration systems will help without hurting your routine and budget.

A Few Considerations

Choosing the right drinking water containers will require you to assess how much water you intend to carry and filter. Consider how many hour or days you will need clean water for drinking, washing, bathing and cooking. Portable water filtration systems usually indicate the number of gallons you can filter. You get to eliminate contaminants like bacteria, viruses and protozoans for long trips, outdoor adventures and emergency situations.

Some Models

There is a drinking water container ideal for backpacking if you intend to travel light. The system includes a small effective filter that gets rid of bacteria, Giardia and Cryptosporidum from water. A certain volume of water is produced through the fixed filtration mechanism. You get to have safe and sanitary water that will last for the rest of your trip.

Drip water filters in drinking water containers are able to filter and produce a large volume of water. The mechanism greatly relies on gravity instead of pumping or electrical conduction. The filter is usually made of ceramic with water dripping from the top compartment to the bottom compartment. Depending on the number of filters, the system can treat several gallons of water.

Some models include a hydration pack and adaptor which fills it up directly. The water filter fixture may be enclosed in a membrane which you can clean regularly. The design is ideal for hiking and camping because of its portability and lightweight style. O-rings may also be present with a service kit for possible repairs and replacements. The filter is efficient and features a compact microfilter that renders high volumes of water per stroke.

Easy and Efficient

Quality drinking water containers should be lightweight, compact and efficient. There are models built to be pumped very easily. Pumps may operate via a lever-action providing mechanical advantage for smooth and quick pumping. The model still features a filter that gets rid of waterborne bacteria and protozoan parasites. The water microfilter can ideally withstand freezing and does not easily break or get damaged with impact. There are also no small parts that get lost quickly.

A drinking water container that features a carbon filter with pleated cartridge is excellent for removing chemicals, managing flow rate and improving odor, taste and appearance of water. Giardia, Cryptosporidum and bacteria can easily be removed with the micro filter which stays inside the bottle without requiring any maintenance whatsoever. Try to look for a bite valve to prevent leaks and gain advantage of hands-free action.

Pros and Cons

Generally, drinking water containers offer the advantages of being quick, easy to use and portable. You get to have clean and safe water free of harmful chemicals, drugs and elements as you travel from one place to another. The water is very potable and can be used for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing dishes.

Nutrients Derivable From Food and Their Importance

Our bodies need nutrients which are derived from the type of foods we eat. Generally speaking, there are five nutrients derivable from foods. These nutrients are carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils, minerals and vitamins.

Carbohydrates are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They are oxidized to yield energy in the body. This energy is made available for our life activities. Carbohydrates are also important in milk formation in nursing mothers. They are also components of important body organs such as the brain and cartilage. A greater proportion of what we eat consist of carbohydrates. It is obtainable from products made from yams, cassava, Irish potato and sweet potatoes. Also included are products obtained from grains such as rice, maize, wheat etc.

Proteins are essential in replacing worn-out cells and in producing new ones. Pregnant mothers need adequate quantity of proteins for healthy development of the fetus. They are essential for hormones and enzymes secretion.Proteins are obtained from eggs, milk, meat, fish, groundnuts, beans, peas and soybeans

The fats and oils are needed for energy production. They make the body to be glossy and they are solvents for vitamins A,D,E and K. The fats and oils are obtainable from animal fats, palm oil, ground nut oil and cotton seed oil. The vitamins help the body in fighting diseases. Vitamins are important for proper functioning of body organs. They are obtained from fruits and vegetables.

Minerals give strength to the body skeleton. Some mineral elements help in maintaining the acid-base balance of the body fluid. Iron is a component of hemoglobin. Minerals are obtained from bones, fish, common salt, etc.

When these nutrients are obtained in adequate quantities, the body functions very well and diseases are kept away.

The Three Main Body Types

If you were to go out and examine the body of every single person in this world, you will soon see a pattern that comes up over and over again, you will notice several features are very similar on people, things like overall body shape, height; they may have big thighs and abdomen areas. Similar levels of fat whether they exercise or not. If you were to take in to account all these things and were to categorize people that are similar to each other, you should end up with three groups.

These 3 groups are Ectomorph, Endomorph and Mesomorph. Every single person on this earth can go into one these categories. There is a few indifferences and anomalies among certain people, but overall they can still be identified and put in to one of the body types.

The Ectomorph is characterised by these traits:

* The Definitive "Hard Gainer"
* Delicate Built Body
* Flat Chest
* Fragile
* Lean
* Lightly Muscled
* Small Shouldered
* Takes Longer To Gain Muscle

If You're in to body building and have been struggling to build significant muscle, this is probably the reason why, but it can be helped by using supplements such as whey protein to aid in muscle building and making sure you have proper form in all your workouts.

The next significant body type is Endomorph body or more commonly known as the "pear shaped body", things to look for are:

* They are generally Curvy
* Body fat tends to accumulate in the lower regions of the body, namely the abdomen are and thighs
* Big Hips, Thighs and Abdomen area
* Tendency to have a blend of features from the Ectomorph and Mesomorph body types
* Has Capacity for High Fat Storage
* Small to medium bone size
* Muscles aren't well-defined

A lot of Endomorph body-type people struggle to lose weight whether they are dieting or exercising a lot. On the plus side if they do put the effort in, and make a bid to lose all the fat, they can have some of the best looking abs of any of the other two body types. Due to the slight uniqueness of their situation, they can usually end up looking like one of the other body types with the right exercise.

The Final body type that everyone longs for is the Mesomorph look, A lot of the Mesomorph's don't realise how lucky they are to have this body, because with a little work they can get stunning results pretty quickly, yet they are completely oblivious to this. The Distinct characteristics of the Mesomorph are.

* Athletic Appearance
* Hard Body
* Hourglass Shaped (female)
* Rectangular shaped, broad shoulders(male)
* Mature Muscle Mass
* Muscular Body
* Excellent posture
* They tend to gain muscles easily

Now you know about the three body types, which one are you? And what do you want to look like?

With a good exercise program, it's possible to look like any of these body types, You just have to be patient, consistent and set realistic goals along the way.

Things to Do to Keep Fit

It is not everyday that you get up from your bed refreshed. There are days or times you get up and notice that you are lazy, you don't feel any enthusiasm or bubbling at all. When this is the situation, just a five minute walk-out could be all that you need to warm up your energy and put your body in the right frame for the day.

The following tips below, which may last just five minutes, can help you maintain a fit and healthy living.

1) Sitting on the heels lower the trunk, with the hands fully extended, and the palms and fore-head placed on the floor. This helps the body to operate maximally, especially, the hands and the legs. The muscles benefits immensely from this exercise.

2) Secondly, you can sit down and stretch your legs front. Then bend the right knee and place the right foot on the outside of the left thigh. With the inside of the elbows placed just below the right knee clutch, the right flexibility to the spin and massage the kidneys and the abdominal organs. This promotes better bowel action.

3) You can equally stand, with your feet close together and with your hands stretched over your head, then take a deep breath. Do slow counts of one to ten, then, breathe out, and breathe in again. Now, while doing this, adjust your trunk to different positions, left, right, upright, etc. Then strengthen and drop both hands by the sides and rest. This helps to burn fat around the hips and the flanks. Also, it knocks sleepiness out of the system. A good therapy for staying healthy always.

Lack of time is one of the many reasons why many of us fail to have enough work-out that our body needs so desperately. At times, it may be simply that we are plainly lazy, after all, body no-be-firewood. So, you can't expect to be strong, or feel the same everyday. But even when you feel that your sleep was not refreshing enough, you should not allow that to spoil your day. Rather, have some walk-out to refresh and start-up yourself for the day. This walk-out, which may not even last more than five minutes, but warms up your muscles, helps the body to tap on its energy reserves by producing glucagons, which is an energy releasing hormone.

Natural Candida Cleanse Treatment Methods - Find Out the Cure

If you have struggled with Candida for a while now it's possible that you have not attempted the necessary natural Candida cleanse treatment methods that can bring full lifetime relief. I'll briefly discuss two of the common natural Candida cleanse treatment methods and then explain what really needs to be done in order to have complete and total relief from a Candida infection.

The first natural Candida cleanse treatment method popularly used is a strict diet:
This diet requires that you not eat any foods that contain sugar this includes fruit and simple starch foods such as white flour. You also need to eliminate any processed foods, alcohol and yeast from the diet.

So what do you eat then you may ask, well lots of leafy green vegetables. Try to eat 3-4 salads a day that contain spinach, kale, kelp and generally dark leafy greens. Besides this for grains you can eat Quinoa, Millet, Amaranth, Buckwheat and Brown Rice. Consume at least 35 grams of fiber per day. An easy way to accomplish this is to drink hemp and flax seed powder shakes every day. These help move the contents of your bowels out quickly and thoroughly, ensuring rapid removal of toxic waste including Candida overgrowths.

The second natural Candida cleanse treatment method commonly used are probiotics:
These are beneficial bacteria that directly destroy Candida on contact are crucial in initially gaining control over a Candida overgrowth. They boost immune system function and help your body cleanse Candida directly, as well as indirectly by synthesizing nutrients needed by the body that are drained by a Chronic Candida infection.

Acidophilus is a popular strain of probiotics bacteria that is found in yogurt, however the amount of probiotics needed to fight off Candida is the equivalent of consuming 10 normal yogurts per day. In pill form though they can be consumed much more easily. Normally a Candida sufferer should supplement about 50 billion worth of probiotics minimum per day.

Conclusion:
Both of these natural Candida cleanse treatment methods are useful and entirely necessary in gaining control over an infection. However neither of these treatments effectively treats the root cause that allowed the Candida infection to overgrow in the first place. The cause of which normally is an immune system suppression through other toxic health issues that have yet to be realized and addressed. Once they are removed Candida can be eliminated entirely by your body.

How to Make Money As a Personal Trainer

Are you making the kind of money you want as a Personal Trainer? As much as we love Personal Training, at the end of the day its still about making a living from it. More than anything we need to make a profit from the services we provide in order to survive.

If your not making the kind of money you deserve, maybe we need to evaluate some of the things you're doing. Possibly your setting up profit road blocks and don't even know it!

Here are 3 things to consider:

1. Are you treating your Personal Training Business, like a business or are you just winging it??
2. Are you focusing more on getting certifications than Sales and Marketing?
3. How do you spend your time between clients are you making the most out of your time?

Let Me Explain.......

I remember when I first started personal training. I came to the gym, trained clients, collected payment , rinse then repeat. I had no idea how much I made on a given day, I kept poor records, I didn't have a separate business bank account.

When I filed my taxes, I missed out on all the benefits of having my own business and all the wonderful tax write offs that came with it! Today, I'm more focused on treating my Personal Training Business like a business. It has made BIG difference and my income has increased because of it. I recommend you visit a tax consultant and get your business set up like a business. Get advice on how to get the most from owning your own business. If you don't.. you will be leaving a lot of money on the table.

Let me tell you... It doesn't really matter how many personal training certifications you have, if you don't know how to market your training business. A personal trainer with just 1 certification and a huge knowledge of Sales & Marketing will eat up the Trainer with 50 degrees and certifications and no knowledge of how to Market his/her business!

You can know how to pronounce all the fancy muscle names, but if you aren't good at Sales and Marketing .. you will not make the kind of money you should. Health & Fitness is Hot right now! If you are not reaping the rewards of this Growing Market...your ability to Market yourself may be the reason. The best Personal Trainers have education, but they are also good at Marketing their business and themselves.

In summary, focusing on setting up your business and getting an understanding of sales and marketing will catapult your business threw the roof! Don't cheat yourself in this department, it can make or break you in the fitness industry.

Natural Home Remedies For Sweating Excessive

If you've an issue with perspiration, you will be glad to know they're many cheap, great home remedies for excessive sweating problems.

Try to understand that sweating is a natural way for the body to regulate its temperature. Sweat glands positioned in the dermis (centre) layer of the skin form liquid that's forced to the surface of the skin as the body temperature increases. As this liquid (perspiration) evaporates from your skin's surface, the body temperature cools to standard levels.

Because sweat is a essential process, you should not try to eliminate sweating altogether. All the same, we are all aware what types of situations sweat can generate. Here's some home remedies for excessive sweating that one could avail.

First, wear natural fabrics, like cotton. Man made fabrics do not allow your skin to breathe and make the sweat stay on your skin without being able to evaporate. Natural fibers let the sweat wick away from the skin, making it much healthier.

Second, make sure you bathe on a regular basis, making use of a loofah type of sponge to thoroughly wash bacteria away from your skins surface. In warm temperatures or if you're especially active, try to shower in the morning and the evening.

Next point, totally dry your body off when you're finished in the bath. Take heed to your groin, toes and armpits, which is where bacteria like to breed, creating those characteristic smelling body odors. Try and dry exhaustively and consider using light amounts of talcum powder to keep the areas dry.

Four, drink lots of fluids, especially cool water. By drinking lots of cool liquids, you'll easily bring your temperature of the body down to controllable levels. Try and keep away from caffeine or alcohol, however, as these may increase the body's temperature, therefore promoting sweating.

Five, don't eat spicy foods. Even though you may really like the taste of Thai or Mexican food, refrain from eating it if you've an issue with excessive sweating.

Six, eat foods that contain a lot of zinc, as this has been shown to curtail sweat odors. Zinc rich foods can consist of whole grains, nuts, legumes and turkey. Conversely, refrain from eating odor producing foods like fish and garlic.

Seven, try to swap the deodorant you use. If the well-liked brands can't work for you, try and find a medical suppliers store or health food store which might have some more capable products for you to look at. Quite often a tiny change is all that's required.

The seven of these natural home remedies for sweating excessive will aid make life a lot more affable, for you as well as for for those around you.

Are You Performing Quackery Yourself?

Quackery: Strictly it is a fraudulent or ignorant pretender to medical skills. That sounds interesting! Can somebody else declares someone to perform quackery, or is it the patient who gives the care provider the occasion to perform the act of quackery?

Everybody is used to hear quackery mentioned in one breath with alternative medicine. But lets have a close look at traditional western medicine. In the medication top 10 we will find high blood pressure medication, sleep disorder medication, acid blockers and painkillers. Lets have a close look at painkillers.

What does a painkiller actually? Simply put, it works on the nerve system and is blocking the pain signals to your brain. That sounds great however.

What is pain for? Isn't pain a warning signal from your body that something's wrong? Isn't it given so that nothing goes by unnoticed like the control lights in your car? So if you ignore the pain by suppressing it with medication, isn't that the same as removing the control lights in your car for a while? By ignoring the pain you're doing fine when you use painkillers until something goes really wrong. But what do I need to do? Good question!

Food. Many people are on a diet rich in acid (meat, milk, grain) and low in base foods like fruit and vegetables. An unbalanced diet rich in omega 6 and low in omega 3. Noth will lead to pain over time. Another prime example; Batmanghelidj, a doctor being held in prison in Iran for two years and seven months, was helping fellow prisoners with his one and only tool: water. He discovered one night when they called for his help on an acute and painful flatulence ulcer, that the only thing he could do was giving the patient two glasses of water. Within eight minutes the pain disappeared. Batmanghelidj ordered him to drink two glasses of water every two hours, that kept the pain away.

Conclusion: When you battle pain with a medicine you might overlook the cause and treat the symptoms instead. This way, you are performing quackery by buying or asking for pain medication.

I spoke to a friend who was hospitalized three times in a row. He was more then aware that the cause for his problems was his own destructive lifestyle. I did ask his wife what he thought about alternative care providers? No way she said! The first thing they will bring up is changing your lifestyle to score lasting effects. This way he's opting in for a symptom treatment, quackery, so he can maintain his lifestyle a little longer.

When a doctor supplies you with the medication, without asking you the 'difficult' questions about your lifestyle, is it the doctor who's guilty of quackery or is it your own responsibility?

Over the years, I made up my mind and developed a strong opinion about western medicine. When you are involved in an accident ending up hospitalized, doctors can do a great job getting you well again. In one word; Fantastic! Professional work.

However, when it comes to their magic acts, pharmaceutical medications, I simply don't thrust them! I think it's the highest performing and organized act of quackery! To many people lacking the knowledge of what food can do for your overall health and what some foods can do to make you sick while others foods can be the best medicine to heal or maintain health. It's a shame most doctors aren't trained for the job. Having learned their 'skills' by pharmaceutical companies, or can we say being brainwashed? Medical training, the name already tells you what it stands for, has nothing to do with healthcare. Healthcare should be prevention, and we start paying visits to a doctor when we are sick. Most people aren't aware what the cause is for their sickness, discomfort or wellbeing. Lifestyle, bad habits, and all the options for a quick fix, are advertised by the pharmaceutical firms in their TV commercials. Come to us, we can supply you with all your quackery tools.

Eat more greens? Heh, I'm not a rabbit?

Smoking? I may have some joys in life don't I?

Sports? I'm, sorry, not much time for that!

Healthcare cost rising, out of reach for many already. Don't we badly need a healthcare system rewarding people with a healthy lifestyle? Rewarding doctors for those they keep healthy? Reward people with a no-claim healthcare system. Living in harmony with the laws of nature. Motivating people financial to life a healthier lifestyle.

Doctors are only a part of the system. We are however in control, asking for the right treatment or choice to go to another doctor. Trained, trusted and respected for real healthcare. You may opt in for the magic tricks but when the magic fades away you most probably will pay a high price? Like a thief in the night, food companies rob you from your health, pharmaceutical companies from your wealth.

What can I do? Good question! Our food chain is highly industrialized. Artificial fertilizers, pesticides, gmo seeds, processed foods. We need to buy whole foods at local farms from people who we can thrust or start growing your own.

We, you and I are the society. Do something about it yourself, the government its' letting us down to protect us for a long, long while. We can always raise other people's awareness and find likeminded people who will join. Going back to our roots, living in harmony with nature like it was meant to be. Or you can go on with quackery and gamble with your most precious possession; Health!

What About Water

Think about it. Our bodies are made up of 75-85% water. Water is the universal solvent. Water is what cleans our system, facilitates the brain waves that helps us think clearly and our bodies to function properly. Water is the way we maintain a healthy weight, flush out toxins, maintain proper body temperature and live in general. Without water we would die.

It does take several days however for our bodies to deplete its water supply to the point of death. But, have you considered these well published facts?

* 75% Of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
* 37% Of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
* Even mild dehydration can slow down metabolism by 3%.
* Lack of water is the #1 trigger for daytime fatigue.
* University of Washington study found that water completely shuts down overnight hunger pains.
* Research indicates that hydration can significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers, AND Reduces most cancers by 40%.
* Dehydration does comparable damage on the cardiovascular system as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.

Does this open your eyes to Water?

But there is more. In a book written by Dr. Masaru Emoto entitled "Messages From Water", Dr Emoto shows proof of differences of culinary water vs. water from nature. In the film by the same name, you can actually sit and watch the crystals form as they melt from a frozen state. It is amazing! And it is just as amazing to view the drastically different ugly formations that come from our culinary water systems.

The film, "What the Bleep" brings an even more amazing view of water. It awakened us to the possibility of a quantum existence; the realization that things may be happening simultaneously on many planes of existence. We won't go into it here and now, but it could be of interest if anyone wanted to explore it.

Some of the most outstanding images in the film were of water crystals. They appeared to assume perfect ice-crystal-like form when exposed to positive thoughts of love and compassion.

Anyone who has read Deepak Chopra's books would already be familiar with this concept. He describes it as the point where energy becomes matter.

Excessive Sweating - A Common Social Ailment That Can Be Overcome

Everyone sweats; it is the human body's way of regulating thermal temperature. Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating, a devastating social disorder that is often uncontrollable.

This disorder causes excessive perspiration on the foot, under the arm as well as on the neck and face. Palmer hyperhidrosis is classified as the excessive perspiration of the hands, the most common form people suffer from.

Over the counter antiperspirants are not very effective for one who suffers with hyperhidrosis though there are several in prescription strength antiperspirants that are moderately more effective.

Drysol contains a 20% solution of aluminum chloride hexahydrate and will ease symptoms for primary complaints of axillary as well as Palmer hyperhidrosis. Major complaints include skin irritation and fair long-term results.

Botulinum toxin, or commonly known as Botox, has recently been approved by the U.S. in treating underarm sweating. A medically trained professional will inject the Botox in 20 unique areas under each arm, temporarily halting the neurotransmitters that produce the sweat.

Treatments with Botox produce immediate results though have to be repeated approximately 4-6 months. Cost is also an issue in using this treatment as to the temporary effect of the injections.

Other solutions for moderate hyperhidrosis is a procedure known as Iontophoresis. Invented over 50 years ago, Iontophoresis uses an electrical current conducted to the affected areas though tap water. Although sounding painful, the most common complaint is cracked skin and time required for this treatment.

Devices are obtained through prescription and need to be used on a daily basis initially and tapered off as treatments progress. Oral medications such as Rubinol are not widely used as to the nature of the side effects that include blurred vision and dry mouth.

For serious cases, surgery may be an option. Sympathectomy is an operation preformed under general anesthesia that will permanently interrupt the sympathetic nerves found in the thoracic cavity. This procedure carries the many risks associated with major surgery and is largely left as a last resort for sufferers of facial hyperhidrosis.

Today with new medical advancements and treatments, sufferers of excessive sweating do not need to hide from social interactions. Making an appointment with a physician knowledgeable in hyperhidrosis can make a difference.

How to Stop Sweating Under Arms - 3 Explosive Tips - You Simply Can't Afford to Miss These

Want to stop sweating under arms from drenching your t-shirts and ruining your day? It's really frustrating having to deal with this condition, but you're not alone. Over 8 million others are having to deal with the same problem. The medical name for it is Hyperhidrosis and it can affect your underarms, face, palms or bottoms of the feet. So with that said, what are your options? Well, I've compiled a list of things you can try right this moment that will help you to cut down on your sweating.

1. Stop Drinking Coffee

This is a big one. Many people drink coffee like it's going out of style, however if you want to stop sweating under arms from drenching your shirts at the end of each day, try cutting this out. The reason this makes you sweat is because it is loaded with caffeine and sugar. Caffeine elevates your metabolism and makes you anxious. Sugar also tends to make you hyperactive. These two combined means you're going to sweat more if you overdo it. Cut out your coffee intake for a week and see if that hasn't helped you.

2. Stop Smoking

If you happen to smoke, this is another no-no. Smoking is a stimulant, it activates your sympathetic nervous system which are the nerves responsible for signaling your glands to begin sweating. Smoking will end up triggering these more than it should resulting in more sweating.

3. Stop Drinking Alcohol

Some of you may not want to hear this, but even alcohol increases sweating! If you truly want to stop sweating under arms from becoming the bane of your existence, cut out the run and cokes, tequilas, Jack Daniels, beers and whatever else you've been drinking. The reason this happens is because alcohol dilates your blood vessels allowing more blood to flow through. This results in an increase in body temperature which, you guessed it, means more sweating for you. As your body tries to regulate it's temperature in response, you begin to sweat more, so cut out the alcohol whenever possible!

If your case of sweating is extreme and these tips don't quite help you enough, don't sweat it! There are other more powerful techniques out there.

What You Need to Know About the EPA Primary Drinking Water Standards

The EPA primary drinking water standards are the allowable maximums that can be found in drinking water of various potential contaminants. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is the governmental body that enforces standards having to do with public water. (The FDA regulates bottled water.) If you're concerned about what's in your water, you'll need to refer to the EPA primary drinking water standards to really understand what's going on. Let me explain.

Since you're reading this article, I'm sure you're at least open to the idea that your tap water may not be all that safe. And it's not! Recent studies have been done of American water systems that have found some alarming results. Ralph Nader's group did a study of American water systems and found over 2,100 known toxic chemicals in the water. Another such study was done of several American cities' supposedly treated water and found traces of pesticides in the waters of all the cities. One unlucky city even had traces of three pesticides!

Even if your tap water were complete free of these types of pollutants, the very chlorine that 99% of water treatment plants use to disinfect water can pose some real problems!

So, how do you find out what's in your water that you need to be concerned about? Well, if you get public water you have the right to the test results that your municipal water system must make on a regular basis. That's a start. They're not required to test for that many pollutants, however. So, your best bet is to test your water yourself.

Once you either get your city's test results, or your own test results, you'll need to be able to intelligently read the test. That's where the EPA primary drinking water standards come in. You can access these on the Web. I can't give you the URL, but you can easily find it by Googling the phrase, "EPA primary drinking water standards."

Once you're on that part of the EPA's site, you'll see that it gives you the maximum allowable parts per million of a whole host of contaminants, both organic and inorganic. That's what you'll want to compare your test results to.

Now, just so you know, some of these maximum allowable standards are just sort of educated guesses. Take dissolved asbestos, for instance. It's not really known how hazardous that is. (I would guess it is indeed hazardous, given the fact that asbestos in the air is so hazardous, but I'm a journalist, not a scientist.) You'll notice that the maximum allowable fibers per liter of water is seven million. It's not that scientists really know that below that threshold drinking asbestos fibers is safe. It's that the seven million mark is as low as current technology can measure. So, you'll have to take all of this with a grain of salt and use your own intuition.

So, what do you do if you get your water tested, or get your public water provider's most recent test, and find out that there are some contaminants that you're worried about? Well, your only real alternative is to filter your water yourself. Just knowing or having access to the EPA primary drinking water standards is not enough. You have to take action with this knowledge, educate yourself about drinking water filters, and buy one!

Mike Ramsey Stop Sweating - Live a Sweat Free Life

Anyone who sweats too much knows what it feels like not to be able to do certain things for fear of sweat making their lives a misery. Wearing certain clothes is out of the question as wet patches will be so noticeable; speaking in public is a nightmare as sweating will only get worse, shaking hands can be difficult if you have sweaty hands the list goes on. For those people who don't have a problem with sweating this can seem as though it has been somewhat exaggerated but it is a very real and very unpleasant condition that is known as hyperhidrosis and it can strike a person as any time.

One person who knows what it feels like to live his life under the rule of excessive sweating is Mike Ramsey and he tried many different remedies to stop his sweating all with varying effects. Mike Ramsey tired everything from antiperspirants to herbal teas in an attempt to control his sweating, and eventually he found the answer to questions such as how to stop sweating hands, sweating backs and armpits.

Once he had found a way in which he could stop his excessive sweating and start to get back to living life free from sweat he then wrote the book Mike Ramsey Stop Sweating. This book has now helped thousands of people to change the way that they look at sweating so that they can get on with the usual tasks in their lives without having sweat put an end to their activities as it so often does. Using things that are found commonly in the home Mike explains how he found the answer to excessive sweating and now lives like any other normal person, sweat free, fresh and comfortable all year round. If you would like to know how to do this then read Mike's book.

Sun Protection Factor! Your Essential Guide About SPF

But what's with those numbers? The sun protection factor, or the SPF, ranges from a low of 2 to a high of 50 and sometimes higher. Most of us understand that the SPF has something to do with providing protection from the sun's damaging ultraviolet rays. But beyond that, the number is shrouded in mystery.

What does SPF mean?

The SPF is a comparison of the time it takes before the skin will start to redden with and without sun protection. In addition, SPF pertains only to UVB rays, the ones that cause tanning but also sunburns.

For example, if it would take 20 minutes for an individual's skin to burn without sun protection, then a SPF of 15 means that when applied, that person can remain in the sun 15 times longer, or up to 5 hours, without worrying about burning. The greater the SPF, the longer the protection it offers, but only up to a certain point. SPFs greater than 15 offer only small increments of additional protection. And that's the theory behind the SPF.

In reality though, sun protection regardless of SPF becomes less effective when it's not evenly applied, a person goes into the water and a person sweats. Both water and sweat diminish the product's effectiveness that's why it's extremely important to reapply sun protection frequently.

Besides reapplying, for maximum effectiveness the first application should happen approximately 20 minutes prior to going out into the sun. Doing so allows sufficient time for the product to fully absorb into the skin. It also ensures that you'll be protected the moment you step outside.

Which SPF is right for me?

For most people, sun protection with a sun protection factor of 15 provides adequate protection as long as it's frequently reapplied. However, those with more sensitive skin will benefit from a higher SPF. People who are fair-skinned, have light-colored or red hair or who are traveling to certain high altitude or tropical destinations will also benefit from a higher SPF. Those with darker skin generally don't burn as easily and need only a mild SPF. When choosing remember that a higher SPF does not offer more protection - it offers longer protection.

Other sun protection products

Self-tanning products and bronzers are safer ways to color your skin because the skin isn't being exposed to ultraviolet radiation which over time damages the skin's cells. These products don't offer sun protection unless the label specifically states otherwise by listing a sun protection factor. But remember that a sun protection factor corresponds to a period of time and therefore, even if the product offers sun protection, it's not going to last until you wash the product off in a few days.

Do not be confused between SPF, UPF, and EPF. As explained above SPF (sun protection factor) refers to sunscreens; UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) refers to sun protection swimwear, UV protective clothing and sun protection hats; EPF (eye protection factor) refers to sunglasses. Next time you purchase your sun protection product make sure you ask for SPF, UPF, or EPF certification.

Proven Solutions For Excessive Sweating Problems

I wanted to take the time to share with you some proven solutions for excessive sweating problems. I've always had issues with my sweat ever since I was a child. I just seemed to sweat much more than other people. I'd be sitting around with my friends, they'd be normal and I'd be sweating bullets. I make up a small minority of about 2% of Americans. We are the people that have overactive sweat glands that just cause us to sweat all the time or for no apparent reason. It's a very embarrassing problem, but there are some solutions to it that I would like to share with you.

My excessive sweating problems never really held me back in my life when I was younger. It wasn't until I got into the corporate world that I saw it hurting. I have a great education and I'm an excellent employee with upper management written all over me, but time and time again I was passed over for promotions. I know the exact reason for this my sweating. It's not intentional, but when you look at someone that is sitting at their desk sweating all the time, they look like they lack confidence, they can't deal with a stressful situation and that they're underhanded. After getting passed over for a promotion again, I decided to solve this problem for good.

My research on excessive sweating problems led me down the road of diets. The food we eat actually can cause the internal workings of our body to go faster, which heats us up. By eliminating these foods, we can actually cool down our bodies, so they don't sweat.

Sweating Underarm Excessive Sweat Cure

Excessive sweating underarm problems are generally caused by autonomic nerves. This symptom is known as hyperhidrosis. You should be too alarmed into thinking you are the only one with this problem, because in fact there are millions around the globe experiencing the same problems.

Normally, anti-perspirants do not work effectively to stop sweating underarms that have this symptom. That is why people with excessive sweating underarms turn to other treatments.

These other treatments include surgery. However, surgery to cure sweating underarms is not completely safe, and you are at the risk of catching an infection. Furthermore, surgery has a small failure rate, hence it is something that should be seriously discussed with a health professional before undertaking.

Also on the path of surgery is the idea of using Botox as a treatment to a sweating underarm, and once again, not everybody finds Botox to be a completely safe alternative for curing sweaty armpits.

Techniques for stress management can also potentially play a role in the reduction of excessively sweating underarms. It is a 'catch-22', wherein you sweat, then stress about the sweating, which causes you to sweat more, seeming like an uncontrollable cycle. However, you should learn to de-stress to some level because that is actually a factor that you have control of.

Underarm sweat problems are often best cured naturally, without the need to take unnecessary risks. The focus of this is on completely risk free methods to prevent an excessive underarm sweat condition. Remember, always research before you undertake a risky approach to remedy excessively sweating underarms, and if there is a natural alternative that works, it is always safer to use that in the first instance (if antiperspirants do not work of course!)

Eight Easy Ways to Be Healthier in Your Day to Day Life

1. Park farther away more often. Just include parking farther away in your health plan. You'll save gas and lose fat! Sounds like a win/win.

2. Eat less food. Given the rising cost of food, the famines occurring all over the world and obesity now being the Number 1 health concern in the US, it seems timely to begin--or continue--eating less.

3. Pay closer attention. Just for a minute, pay attention to what's happening inside and around you, listening to your heartbeat or your breathing. Practicing this type of attention will help you know how hungry/full you are all the time.

4. Begin the habit of getting enough sleep and rest. New research indicates that a frequent precursor to many types of cancer is sleep deprivation. Just one more reason to turn off the TV and computer and hit the hay!

5. Stop mindless munching by only eating when food is on a plate or in a single-serving container. It can be shocking to realize how much food many of us really eat. Be more mindful and you'll lose weight and save money, too!

6. Stand up a little taller. Bad posture weakens your core and abdominal muscles, potentially giving you a belly pooch.

7. Try a new, healthy recipe. The Internet is full of great recipes. Trying one will help you get healthy and maybe help you enjoy cooking--which can save you money.

8. Clean out the fridge. In many states you can now dump old food in the yard waste bin to be composted. In any case, get rid of the old and/or unhealthy food today.

Is There a Natural Cure For UTI? - Tips to Help You Feel Better Now

Cranberry juice has long been touted as the natural cure for UTI. Anyone who has been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection is typically told to drink more of this red juice by their doctor. If you love the taste, it's an easy suggestion to follow. If you're less keen on it, you might decide to forego it and just stick to the prescribed medications. It's worth taking another look at though, and actually taking it a step further isn't a bad idea.

One of the biggest issues with urinary tract infections is that they tend to reoccur. If you've had one, you're more prone to getting another. The problem is that most of us don't know we have one until it's in full bloom. That's when we feel the familiar stinging when we urinate and the aching sensation in our pelvis and back. By that time, you're up for any unnatural or natural cure for UTI. You really just want the pain to be gone. Drinking cranberry juice at this stage will offer some relief, but you'd benefit more if you consumed some each and everyday.

More and more people, women in particular, are switching from their morning glass of orange juice to a tall, cool glass of cranberry juice. Both have many benefits, but cranberry juice does seem to ward off recurring urinary tract infections. If you're not that fond of the tang of the juice, you can always add cranberry tablets to your vitamin regime. They offer the same benefits but in a tablet form.

Urinary tract infections can impact your life in many ways. If you are suffering with one, you already are well aware of how painful and uncomfortable it is. There are natural and effective ways to cure your urinary tract infection. Find out more about what you can do to relieve the pain and discomfort, from this helpful site.

How Does Head Lice Life Cycle Go?

Panic is the first thing a person does upon knowing a head lice is in his or her head. Head lice primarily cause scalp irritation when constant scratching is done. This problem must be dealt with as soon as possible. Head lice do not really fly, but they can transfer easily from one head to another, and passing this to the other members of the family actually leads to a worse infestation. Eliminating head lice from one person is easier compared to doing it to the whole family because the cycle will just go on. So, just how does the head lice life cycle run? Is there a way to stop them from multiplying?

Knowing about the head lice life cycle is very important so you would know how to deal with them. Lice actually lay eggs called nits in the hair shaft in at least half or one inch away from the scalp. The nits look tan in color when it still contains the future lice. Then, when they hatch, the color changes into white and they stick and attach permanently to the hair shaft. Then the newborn lice will feed on your head by sucking your blood and nourishing themselves until they grow. When fully grown, they will now start to lay eggs and the head lice life cycle continues. One head louse lays at least 100 or 150 eggs in a day. So, imagine if you have 5 matured lice on your head, then there would be 750 nits laid on your head today!

The life span of head lice when they are removed from the scalp is 3 days. They can survive for three days without nourishment from your head. If your personal belongings are not properly attended to, this gives the head lice more time to transfer to another head.

Solving the Problem Urgently

It is truly frustrating that the head lice life span is like this and why they continue to exist. They are really troublesome and very embarrassing. What you need to do in order not to contract any lice is to stay away from the person who has head lice. When children have any of these, take the first step in using the natural head lice medication. Now that you already know the hard to break life cycle of the head lice, it is time for you to ensure your family's safety from these nasty parasites.

Breathing For Maximum Brain Oxygenation

Breathing and the brain

Our breathing pattern has profound effects on the brain. Unnoticeable changes in breathing (when we believe that our breathing is OK) can reduce oxygenation and blood supply by 20-30%. How should we breathe, day and night, so that to have maximum oxygenation of the brain? Which breathing pattern is the best for our nervous system?

While over 95% people believe that the deep or big breathing pattern is good for health, medical and physiological evidence (hundreds of publications) provides the opposite answer. Indeed, there is no a single study that confirmed or found that deep breathing pattern improves or good for our health. Why?

If you take 100 fast and deep breaths in succession, you can pass out or faint due to ... hypoxia of the brain. There are dozens of medical studies that confirmed this effect. Hyperventilation is a health hazard. Healthy people have light, slow, and shallow breathing pattern and excellent oxygenation. If you observe breathing of your healthy relatives and friends, you will see nothing and hear nothing. It is the job of the sick patients (with asthma, heart disease, bronchitis, cancer, diabetes, depression, fatigue, insomnia, addictions and many other problems) to breathe heavy and to have low tissue oxygenation, as a result. They are hyperventilating.

You can easily measure your brain oxygenation

Use the stress-free breath holding time test. Breathe normally while sitting; after your usual exhale pinch the nose (to prevent slight unconscious breathing); and measure the breath holding time only until the first distress or discomfort. [Warning. Some, not all, people with heart disease, migraine headaches, and panic attacks may experience negative symptoms minutes later after this light version of the test. If this happens, they should avoid this test.]

The most common mistake is to overdo the test. In this case, you will notice that the stress is gradually increasing. It is time to stop. If you do the test correctly, you will not gasp for air after the test. In fact, your breathing pattern must be exactly the same after the correct test as it was just before it.

What are the typical results?

Severely sick, hospitalized, and terminally ill patients have from 1 to 10 s of oxygen. With approaching death, their breathing gets bigger, deeper, and heavier, while breath holding time approaches zero: 5, 4, 3, 2, and only 1 second just before the death. (You may remember seeing last frantic and dramatic gasps for air of dying people.)

Sick patients with mild forms of the disease (asthma, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc.) have about 10-20 s. These patients are usually on medication to control their symptoms. Asymptomatic asthmatics, heart patients and many others have slightly more than 20 s of oxygen.

Healthy adults, according to published western results, should have about 40 s, but a group of Russian MDs practicing the Buteyko holistic self-oxygenation therapy found that 60 s of oxygen is incompatible with about 150 chronic diseases or diseases of civilization. Hence, they established 60 s as the goal of the therapy.

What are the causes of brain hypoxia when we over-breathe?

When we breathe heavier or deeper, we remove too much CO2 from all cells of the human organism. This causes:

* Reduced blood flow to the brain. CO2 deficiency causes constriction of blood vessels (arteries and arterioles) and our brains get less blood supply. This physiological fact can be found in many medical textbooks. As Professor Newton from the University of Southern California Medical Center recently reported, "cerebral blood flow decreases 2% for every mm Hg decrease in CO2" (Newton, 2004). That means that with each second decrease in the oxygenation index, blood flow to the brain is less by about 1%. Less blood means a decreased supply of glucose (the main fuel for the brain in normal conditions), oxygen, and other nutrients. In addition, it causes gradual accumulation of waste products in tissues.

* The suppressed Bohr effect. As we know, oxygen is transported in blood by hemoglobin cells. How do these red blood cells know where to release more oxygen and where less? Or why do they unload more oxygen in those places where it is more required? The hemoglobin cells sense higher concentrations of CO2 and release oxygen in such places. The effect strongly depends on the absolute CO2 values in the blood and the lungs.

If CO2 concentration is low, O2 cells are stuck with red blood cells. (Scientists call this effect "increased oxygen affinity to hemoglobin"). Hence, CO2 deficiency leads to hypoxia or low oxygenation of the body cells (the suppressed Bohr effect). The more we breathe at rest, the less the oxygenation of our cells in vital organs, like brain, heart, liver, kidneys, etc.

Not only is the inflow of oxygen less (vasoconstriction), but also its release is hampered by low CO2 concentrations (the Bohr effect). That further reduces brain oxygenation.

Do clinical studies show that patients with mental or psychological problems have heavy breathing?

In 1976 the British Journal of Psychiatry published a study of CO2 measurements in 60 patients with neurotic depression and non-retarded endogenous depression (Mora et al, 1976). All patients had abnormally low carbon dioxide values.

Later, in 1990, American psychiatrists from (City University of New York) reported results from several groups of subjects with anxiety, panic phobia, depression, migraine, and idiopathic seizures. The abstract states "virtually all the noncontrol subjects were found to show moderate to severe hyperventilation and accompanying EEG dysrhythmia". In addition, it notes that hyperventilation and abnormal electrical signals in the brain took place simultaneously.

Canadian scientists from the Department of Psychiatry (University of Manitoba, Winnipeg) measured carbon dioxide concentrations in over 20 patients with panic disorder. Their average CO2 was also below the medical norm (Asmundson and Stein, 1994). There are many other studies that report abnormally low CO2 values for people with various psychological and neurological problems.

Are You Drinking Contaminated Drinking Water and Not Knowing It?

I hate to tell you this, but there's a good chance you're drinking contaminated drinking water. I don't care if your water comes from a well or your city's treatment plant. There's a very good chance it's got contaminants in it that you probably would not want to be ingesting. Let me tell you what I mean.

I don't mean that you're going to get some waterborne disease like cholera by drinking water, at least not in the United States and virtually all other developed nations. No, because of water treatment and especially chlorination, cholera is not longer a threat.

What I do mean is that what you are drinking is contaminated drinking water, which has other, less well-known contaminants in it. Things like lead, various pesticides, prescription drugs, and a whole host of other really nasty chemicals have routinely been found in our water systems.

Just to prove that to you, let me cite two studies. One was done by Ralph Nader's group. They studied several American water systems and found over 2,100 toxic chemicals in the drinking water. Another similar study of 29 American cities found traces of pesticides in the water systems of all 29!

If asked about these contaminants, water treatment facilities and governmental bodies always say that these chemicals are present in concentrations that are less than the federal guidelines. But frankly, from the research I've done on the subject, many of those federal guidelines are guesses, at best.

Take the amount of waterborne asbestos that the federal government says is okay to have in our water. (Yes, they do say it's okay!) The only reason they came up with their recommended parts per million that asbestos can't exceed is because they can't make finer measurements. That's not really good science, in my opinion. It certainly isn't good public health policy!

Another issue about contaminated drinking water that is rarely discussed by the agencies who are supposed to be protecting us is the effects of low levels of many contaminants. They always say that you shouldn't have over such and such parts per million of lead in the water, but they fail to take into account the synergistic effect of ingesting lead, pesticides, aluminum, and several other toxic substances. Basically no one knows the effects of these combinations of toxic chemicals in our water.

So, what can we do about contaminated drinking water? Well, the conclusion I came to was this. I realized that to protect my health and my family's health, I was going to have to buy a really good water filter and just filter all our water. Of course, now you'll have to learn about various water filters, but believe me, it will be worth it!

Effective Home Remedies For Fingernail Fungus Removal

Treating fingernail fungus is not that difficult. There are hundreds of antifungal creams, lotions, ointments and oral medications that you can buy in your local drugstore to help cure your fingernail fungus.

However, some of these medications can be costly and may even result in unwanted side effects especially if you have very sensitive skin. Some oral medicines have even been reported to result in minor liver complications in some people.

To avoid these risks, it might be better if you try some home remedies for fingernail fungus removal. These home remedies have been in use for centuries and have been proven to be very effective. Furthermore, these treatments are very inexpensive and make use of common household chemicals.

One of the most common home remedies for fingernail fungus removal involves the soaking of the infected nail in a solution of water and bleaching powder.

You have to do this for about 30 minutes a day, which can be divided into 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes before going to bed at night. As an alternative, you can also use diluted vinegar or hydrogen peroxide instead of bleaching powder.

Although this is a very simple process, you have to note that you will be doing this every single day for the next two or three months, depending on the severity of your infection. This is probably one of the best home remedies for fingernail fungus removal.

Also among the most popular home remedies for fingernail fungus treatment is the application of tea tree oil directly to the infected fingernail.

You can purchase tea tree oil in any health store across the country. As with the soaking, you have to do this every day until the infection has been completely eliminated. This is not as time-consuming as soaking but is equally effective.

Other home remedies for fingernail fungus treatment make use of vapor rub instead of tea tree oil. If you have Listerine in your home, that is quite effective as well.

All of these home remedies for fingernail fungus removal are very efficient and they all have almost zero health risks involved. The only problem would be if you have very sensitive skin in which case you might need to reduce the time for soaking or decrease the frequency of application.

An important thing to remember is that once you have chosen the home remedy you want to use, make sure that you stick to it no matter what. Do not be tempted to switch to other treatments because this might lead to unwanted results and may even worsen an already serious condition.
