Should I Worry About the Master Cleanser Side Effects?

Every since Stanley Burroughs released the master cleanser diet, people have been discussing and speculating about all of the possible master cleanser side effects and what effect they might have on the body and people's general health. Critics have spoken out about the diet and it seems that people are generally unsure about whether there are any side effects at all, and it doesn't seem to be all that easy to track down any good, reliable information on this.

This is why I have decided to compile all of the information I have on this subject together in this articles, so hopefully you guys will be able to read a good review of this and be able to make up your own mind.

Before we look at the master cleanser side effects - how does it work?

This super diet works by putting your body on a diet that includes a specially mixed lemonade based cocktail, that you drink each day which will kick-start your body's own detox engine and allow it to flush out unwanted toxins in just 10 days. Hollywood celebrities such as Beyonce and Robin Quivers swear by it and it has really gained in popularity over the last couple of years. What makes it so good is that not only does it work very well, but it doesn't affect your health, doesn't leave you feeling hungry or starved and works very quickly indeed.

So, what exactly are the side effects?

Given that the diet is centered around a lemonade based drink that you consume a few times each day, people often speculate that this might be bad for your health. Firstly, the carbon-dioxide based 'fizz' of the lemonade is often rumored to have ill effects on your stomach and cause stomach aches etc, but this is unjustified. People do have this all wrong, because the lemonade isn't the cheap fizzy stuff you buy from supermarkets, it is actually fresh lemonade made with real lemons mixed with other natural ingredients, so this isn't an issue.

Other people speculate that the citric acid present in the fresh lemon juice might cause similar master cleanser side effects, but the amount of citric acid present in each glass of the drink is not high enough to cause any problems, and is greatly diluted by the water and other ingredients and won't cause you any problems either.

Another common rumor that is flying about is that of it being a starvation based diet where you only drink the lemonade cocktail and nothing else. Again, this is completely wrong and you should continue to eat healthy food (as you don't want to be putting more toxins back into your body if you can help it!) whilst you consume the lemonade drink to detox your body.

To summarize, the diet is perfectly healthy for you and if you follow it properly then you will have no problems with it at all and you certainly won't have to worry about any master cleanser side effects, plus you will start to feel much healthier and will detox your body in just 10 days, it really is that good. Just ask Robin and Beyonce!

Drinking Water Stations Offer Us Convenience and Contaminated Water!

Today's society is full of chemicals and pollutants. They fill the air, the soil and the water that we drink. Contaminated drinking water is one of the number one causes of many illnesses in this country.

People that drink contaminated drinking water from polluted drinking water stations are more at risk for getting sick and contracting various illnesses.

There have been entire city populations that have suffered from serious complications and even fatalities from waterborne diseases that have spread through the water system.

Drinking water stations generally do not remove any more of the harmful chemicals that are in the water, so those that are forced to use this water suffer from long term exposure to a large variety of chemicals that can have deadly affects.

Drinking water stations that offer cold refrigerated water use tanks to hold the water, these stations either outside or inside office buildings, are usually dirty, somewhat rusted from the inside and in dire need of maintenance.

Fortunately, is it possible to remove the risk of contaminated drinking water from your life. By using quality filtration products on your drinking water stations, you can prevent those in your household or business from having to consume contaminated drinking water.

Whether you choose a complex filtration system that will filter water for your entire home or office, or a smaller filtration system that will work for just once specific drinking water station, you will greatly improve the quality of the water that you are drinking and remove these toxic chemicals from your life.

It's surprising how many people do not realize just how contaminated drinking water really is. They believe that since the water is processed at the water processing plant that it must be safe to consume.

However, most water treatment plants do not use quality filtration products and many of them still use old fashioned methods that only filter the water through sand, and then process them with chlorine. This does nothing to remove the high percentage of harmful chemicals and carcinogens that are so often found in drinking water.

Purchasing a quality filtration system to place on your drinking water station will greatly help to improve the quality of water you are drinking and remove the risks that are posed by contaminated drinking water.

When you consider the health benefits of having a good filtration system, even the higher end systems that cost a little more money seem worth it since you know they are going to better protect your health.

With all of the modern advances that technology has made, there is no reason for your family or business associates to have to continue drinking contaminated drinking water. A good water filtration system placed onto the drinking water stations in your home or office will help remove these harmful chemicals and help keep everyone happy and healthy.

Learn About the Effects of Caffeine on Your Body

When you drink tea, coffee or soda pop, these drinks contain caffeine, which is absorbed by the stomach in as little as 45 minutes after you drink it. Then it travels to all parts of the body, so it is not just your stomach that feels the effects of caffeine. Caffeine affects people in different ways. Some people say that they cannot have any drinks containing caffeine in the evening because they will find it hard to get to sleep. Others say that having a cup of coffee or tea just before bedtime helps them to fall asleep easily.

The amount of caffeine needed to have an effect on the body varies from one person to another. It depends on the person's body size and the degree of tolerance a person has for caffeine. Even though it doesn't take long for caffeine, a mild dose will wear off in about three hours. Caffeine is seen as an ergogenic because it increases the amount of energy one has for work, whether it is mental or physical. In studies done on long distance runners, the results showed that those who consumed caffeine drinks were able to sustain the run much longer than those who drank only water or juices.

Caffeine acts as a mild stimulant on the nervous and cardiovascular systems. It decreases fatigue and increases attentiveness, allowing a person to focus on a job better even when feeling tired. Some of the other effects that caffeine has on the body include an increase in heart rate, a rise in the body's metabolic rate increased blood flow and increased respiratory rate.

When you consume drinks containing caffeine for a long period of time, your body will develop a tolerance for it. This means that in order to achieve the same effect, you will have to consume larger doses of caffeine. Many people become addicted to it and cannot go for any length of time without a cup of coffee or a soft drink. When you go without caffeine for a long period of time, the result could be headache, fatigue, irritability, depression and a lack of concentration.

The amount of caffeine in coffee depends on the type of bean used in the brew. Because of the growing addiction to caffeine, there are many flavors of decaffeinated coffee on the market and soft drinks that do not contain ant caffeine. Numerous prescription drugs also contain caffeine, especially painkillers, because it increases the ability of prescribed drug to perform in the way that it should.

In studies done on caffeine consumption, results have shown that consuming moderate amounts does not have any adverse affect on the cardiovascular system. It appears to increase the excretion of calcium, which the bones need to be strong and healthy. This is very important in the prevention of osteoporosis in older people. Research has also shown there is no link between consuming caffeine and cancer, but consuming excessive amounts of caffeine has been related to miscarriages and some birth defects.

Various Caffeine Effects on the Body

With the growing number of coffee shops and the amount of soft drinks that are sold, there is no doubt that the consumption of caffeine is very high. Caffeine is a drug, but there are not very many people who seem to be worried about the caffeine effects on the body. It is not only present in coffee, tea and soft drinks, but in chocolate and some prescription drugs. There have been many studies done in this regard and for the most part, the results are promising touting the good qualities of caffeine when it is consumed in moderate amounts. Like any drug, excessive use does produce some undesirable effects.

Just look at the lineups at coffee shops in the morning to get an idea of how many people want their morning fix. Chances are they had a cup of coffee before they left the house and will have many more at work before the day is done. Many of them will tell you that they need the jolt of caffeine to get them started in the morning and that they cannot function properly until they have it. This is a sign of a caffeine addiction and while it is not as harmful as another type of drug addiction, the withdrawal from it can be unpleasant. When you crave caffeine and are without it for a period of time, you could have headaches, become very irritable, be unable to focus or concentrate, feelings of nausea and dizziness and excessive fatigue.

Researchers say that drinking mild to moderate amounts of caffeine can be good for you. Caffeine increases the body's metabolic rate, which is good if you are trying to lose weight. The body absorbs the caffeine within 45 minutes after you consume it and the effect wears off in about three hours. It is known to mildly stimulate the nervous and cardiovascular systems, decreases feelings of tiredness, improves concentration and allows you to work longer. However, when you consume large amounts of caffeine it has been known to create nervousness, upset stomach, feelings of anxiety and insomnia.

It is hard to determine the exact effect that caffeine has on your body because everyone is different. The factors involved include the size of the body, the gender and the age, whether or not you smoke and whether or not you are pregnant. Caffeine is used in prescription medication, such as painkillers, so that it will increase the ability of the medication to work. However, it also interacts with some medications causing adverse side effects.

Would you be able to recognize the symptoms of a caffeine overdose? If you drink a lot of coffee, it is important that you do. These symptoms include stomach pain, feelings of being agitated for no reason, a feeling of restlessness, confusion, dizziness, increased heart rate frequent urination, muscle twitching and sometimes ringing in the ears. When you do experience some of these symptoms, you should try cutting back on the caffeine and after a short while you will start to feel better.

Facial Hyperhidrosis - How Can You Help Yourself?

Facial hyperhidrosis is amongst the most embarrassing types of excessive sweating but there are many ways that you can try to reduce it. Let's take a look at them in this article.

What Is The Extent Of Your Condition?

First of all, it is worth diagnosing the extent of your condition because this can affect what treatment options are available.

Do you have sweating on your whole face or just the forehead? Does your scalp also sweat? How about the back of your neck? Do you get any other forms of hyperhidrosis?

When speaking to any doctors about your condition, always give the full detail of your condition.

Prescription Antiperspirants

If you speak to your doctor then he can prescribe you a strong antiperspirant that can be used on the face and also anywhere else on the body too.

You only need to apply this about once per week. However, many people do report a burning or itching sensation so you may want to consider other options.

Botulinum Toxin

Commonly called "Botox" which just happens to be the most popular brand, this can help people who have only limited facial hyperhidrosis, typically in cases where all the sweat comes from a small area on the forehead.

If this is you then you can have a few injections of this drug into the area and it should last for a few months before a repeat treatment is necessary.

Drugs

There are two types of drugs that you could try.

First of all, if you sweat especially in social situations due to anxiety about sweating then antidepressant drugs could help you. You would, however, have to take these on a constant basic.

There is also a class of drugs called anticholinergics. These slow down all bodily excretions such as sweat and tears. Side effects include headaches and high temperature. It is only recommended that you take these drugs if you suffer from hyperhidrosis in many different places on the body.

Surgery

ETS surgery is highly controversial and many doctors advise against it because it involves cutting the nerves which can have grave consequences. It is only recommended for people with many different forms of hyperhidrosis. If you only have the facial type then you will likely not be considered.

Alternatives

Many people have found that their hyperhidrosis can disappear and they will start to sweat normal amounts from just basic changes to their lifestyle and diet.

Speed and Agility Training - Train Yourself For Speed and Agility

Recent scientific studies have shown that physical changes occur in the brain on a regular basis throughout our entire lives. Not only that, but also that the brain can be trained to increase attention, memory, speed, agility and also cognitive control. Neuroplasticity is a process of re-wiring nerve cells, also know as neurons in areas of the brain. This systematic science is used to manipulate and increase various aspects of the mind for an overall better mental performance. Your brain actually changes when you learn new things while vascular cells in the nervous system are transformed.

How to train the brain:

Just as your body needs exercise to stay healthy and in shape, so does the mind. Neuroscientist have been saying for years that reading is beneficial for the brain. However, reading is limited as to what areas of the brain are affected, whereas brain games improve brain power, reflex action, speed and agility, visual attention and attention span. Children's games and toys such as Connect Four and Rubix Cube are basic brain gym exercises that provide fun while developing motor skills in the nervous system. New breakthroughs in the field of Neuroplasticity have taken this principle a step further by creating games for specific brain functions in kids and adults alike.

Benefits of brain fitness:

The observations of playing such brain games regularly have shown that most of us simply aren't reaching our full mental potential. Studies show an improvement in memory, thinking patterns, mood, concentration and alertness in those who regularly give their brains gym exercises. These important facts shouldn't be ignored or be taken lightly by anyone seeking to improve their entire mental health. If you are experiencing sluggishness in the mind, I would suggest you start training your brain for speed and agility on a daily basis.

How Can I Stop Excessive Sweating?

A little sweat is normal but if you sweat too much then there are ways to stop it. Discover how you can stop your excessive sweating in this article.

Types Of Excessive Sweating

It's important to know what type of excessive sweating you have because this will make a difference in what kind of treatment you should go for.

There are 5 main types of excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis. These are palmar (hands), plantar (feet), axillary (underarms), cranio (facial) and truncal (chest, back, groin and thighs).

Start With The Basics

You should always start by addressing the basics. If you can stop as much sweating as possible then this will mean less radical treatments, if you need them.

First of all, make sure that your clothes are appropriate. Wear short sleeves in summer and only materials made from 100% cotton or linen. Completely avoid synthetics like polyester - they'll make nearly anyone sweat excessively.

On your feet, wear shoes made from real leather and make sure that they have good ventilation.

Antiperspirants

If you speak to your doctor then you can get stronger products that can also be used anywhere else on the body, for instance the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.

You only have to use these once per week but beware that they can give a slight burning sensation when used.

Drugs

If your excessive sweating is especially bad when you are anxious or worried about your sweating then you might be interested in drugs to control it.

The most commonly prescribed drugs are beta blockers and antidepressants like Prozac.

Botox

You may have heard that Botox, or botulinum toxin, can be used for sweat problems. This is really only approved for use on the underarms and most doctors will not perform this on other parts of the body.

Surgery

This is an absolute last resort and involves cutting the nerves. In fact, many doctors advise against it because there can be extreme complications e.g. some men can lose the ability to gain an erection.

Lifestyle

Many people have reported great improvements from changes to their lifestyle such as a better diet and exercise. I would advise to try this out before spending money on any treatments.

Overactive Bladder Uncovered

The other day, one of my friends mentioned her sudden urge to wake up in the middle of the night and urinate. This kind of disturbed me and made me think about the possible causes of this and the ways to prevent it. I have heard of involuntary loss of urine at times when least expected, but this was a little different. My pregnant friend told me she has to constantly look for bathrooms wherever she goes. Therefore, I decided to do some research on this topic and I'm sure you will be interested to know what I have found.

Overactive bladder disorder affects 1 in 6 men and women in the U.S (17-20 million people) but only about 20% receive medical attention. Most people are too embarrassed to ask for help or don't think they need to be treated. They tend to isolate themselves and limit work and social life. Symptoms include the strong sudden urge to urinate, urinating frequently- 8 or more times in 24 hours, night time urination and the sudden urge to drop everything.

There are many contributing factors to an overactive bladder problem. Bladder stones make blockages in the bladder and irritate the interior walls. Another common cause is trauma to the pelvic or lower abdominal area during surgery. It may also occur as a result of neurogenic bladder problems caused by strokes, spinal cord lesions, and Multiple Sclerosis. The brain essentially doesn't know when the bladder is full due to lack of communication from the damaged nerves.

A combination of treatments is available to help alleviate symptoms and help manage the impact on daily activities. Scheduling regular times to urinate reduces the likelihood of accidents if the bladder contracts. Medications can be taken to relax the bladder muscle and decrease involuntary contractions. If none of these treatments work, surgery is the last option. A part of the large intestine is removed and used to enlarge the bladder, thereby reducing the urine frequency. As always, you should consult with your doctor to determine the true cause of your symptoms.

Exercise Time Management

Finding time to exercise is about as difficult as cutting a penny with plastic scissors for most people. The truth is: it's easy after you get started. Exercise time management requires blocking off exercise as part of your daily routine. People that try to exercise when they can "fit it in" normally end up with the least results. Exercise time management involves scheduling, workout development, and program variety.

In order to be effective with your exercise program, you'll need to schedule appropriately. This means that you'll be more likely to succeed with your health and fitness goals if you schedule a specific time of the day to exercise for an entire month. The time of day does not have to be the same each day (although this is recommended), but it does have to be pre-scheduled, just as you would a doctor's appointment.

Exercise time management also involves pre-scheduling of your workout routine. Clients of mine who are most successful exercising independently develop their workouts ahead of time. In fact, the most successful plan their workouts for at least an entire week in advance. If you think about it, your choice of exercises for today should be based upon your choice of exercises yesterday and tomorrow.

Finally, in order to manage your time effectively with exercise, you'll need to consider having a variety of exercises in your routine. The typical exercise program repeats once or twice a week, indefinitely. This allows your body to acclimate to the exercise demands placed upon it, thereby decreasing your results over time and leading to plateau. By selecting a larger variety of exercise, as can be done with proper workout development skills, you will be constantly stimulating your body to react to new demands, and thereby increasing fat loss and fitness results. For this reason, marathon runners are able to look relaxed while running at insane speeds. After awhile, the human body accommodates this 'abnormal' demand, and learns to burn fewer calories and conserve more energy. The same thing is true with your exercise program. Be careful not to make this mistake.

3 Steps to Start You on the Road to Good Health

Let's not make this any more complicated than it has to be. You can start living a healthier life, today, by using some simple steps. You did not get fat overnight. You did not develop unhealthy habits overnight. You did not lose your ability to walk upstairs without huffing and puffing, overnight. You will not turn your life around overnight.

But, you can make some simple changes that can change your life, and get you started on the road to Good Health. You can start these changes right now.

These three steps will send the message to your brain that you are serious about taking care of yourself. These simple steps will get you started and once you get started, who knows how far you can go?

1) Breathe. Oh, you thought you already were? No, I mean, really BREATHE. Inhale through your nose, and feel your stomach stick out when you bring the air all the way in. If you don't feel your stomach stick out a little, you are not breathing deeply enough. Breathe deeply through your nose, and then let the air out slowly and completely through your mouth. Practice this right now, and remember to do this throughout your day. Your mind will be clearer and every part of your body will benefit.

2) Stretch. Get up from that desk chair, get off the couch---STRETCH! Reach up and pretend you are reaching for a rope just out of reach. Stretch to your side, sliding your hand down your leg. Do some gentle neck rolls and shoulder shrugs. Stretch often and you will be increasing your flexibility and reducing your chances of injury.

3) Stop drinking sods pop and drink water. Plain old water. (Nothing good can come from drinking any kind of pop.)You don't need fancy drinks and vitamin waters unless you know you are depleting your body of electrolytes and vitamins with vigorous exercise. Drink often, and stay hydrated. You will keep yourself from mistaking thirst for hunger and overeating. You will keep every part of your body hydrated and that's a very good thing!

Try these simple changes and see how much better you feel. Who knows...it may get you thinking about doing all sorts of healthy stuff!

Can Dehydration Be the Cause of Obesity, Headaches, Mood Swings, Lethargy, Allergies and More

The human body is composed of about two-thirds water. It is in our blood, muscle tissue, bone marrow, lower layers of our skin, in our fatty tissues, as well in our stomachs. It is the body's lubrication and helps in its movement and function. Without it we'd be nothing more than dried bones and skin, and wouldn't even exist.

Dehydration is the result of not having enough water in the body so that it can perform as it was designed to perform. The initial symptoms of dehydration are fairly easy to identify. A person can experience headaches and mood changes, be lethargic and tired, have trouble concentrating, and has a slower response to external stimulus.

Unfortunately, many people don't recognize the onset of dehydration and fail to take the necessary steps to prevent it and its results. In fact, many people think that when they are thirsty, that a soft drink or alcoholic beverage will cure the problem. There is nothing further from the truth in this kind of thinking. The body needs water, not just any fluid, but only pure water. Fluids with caffeine, alcohol, or sugar will only make dehydration worse because these substances tend to cause even more water to be eliminated from the body.

Not treating dehydration correctly or further ignoring it can lead to more complicated mental and physical symptoms. Physically speaking the lips will dry and begin to crack, the urine will become dark, and the skin will become dry and papery and lose its elasticity. At this point there is danger that the internal organs can be damaged and treatment is of essential importance and the consumption of water is the cure.

However, the person must also be careful about how fast they drink the water. A dehydrated person should not gulp down water as this could put the body into a state of temporary shock thus preventing it from the acceptance of further hydration. Instead, the dehydrated person must only sip the water initially, allowing the mouth and the throat to become moist and then slowly allowing the water down into the stomach area. This sipping should continue until the effects of dehydration have diminished substantially. And even then, gulping down water to cure the thirst should always be avoided, as too much water in too short of a time can in itself be dangerous.

Like with any other health issue, prevention is always the best medicine. If you are working out, out and about on a hot day, have young children or elderly in a hot climate, or are starting to feel a little less energetic than normal, especially in warm weather, it is wise to take frequent sips of water. The average adult needs approximately one quart of water per day to prevent the onset of dehydration.

Cord Blood Bank Guidelines and Cost

The cord blood bank guidelines and legal issues vary with the country. For the Americans, it is important to know about the AABB and the meaning of the accreditation and the FDA guidelines. At present, there is not much regulation imposed by the FDA in the field of cord-blood preservation, except that of compulsory screening for diseases like HIV.

In the year 2000, the FDA had tried to tighten their regulatory hand over this industry, but it received a severe protest from various groups, particularly the private banks. This was because it required a lot of financial investment by the banks to comply with the regulatory laws.

However, by January 2004, all the banks dealing with storage were mandated to register with the FDA. This allows the FDA to keep a watch over the companies and the blood that is been stored.

From May 2005, all the banks were required to fulfill new federal safety standards set up the FDA. The Cord blood Registry (CBR), which is the country's topmost registries, has been devising these standards since 1997 and it will establish the baseline standard for all the banks. These regulations set up the legal foundation and provide validation to the significance of the storage.

The FDA rules, which were proposed the first time in 1997, call for the banks to implement techniques to ward off contamination during collection, labeling, processing, storage, and distribution part of their service. The present industry oversight, which is the only one of its kind, is provided by the AABB (once the American Association of Blood Banks). The AABB had set up voluntary accreditation guidelines for banks.

The Meaning Of AABB Accreditation

Possessing the AABB accreditation means the bank is recognized for the specialized processing step of hematopoietic stem cells. It means that the lab as well as administrative processes of the bank are monitored and validated, and are found to fulfill the standards set up by AABB. GENERAL ACCREDITATION IS NOT ENOUGH. IF A BANK IS NOT ACCREDITED, REJECT IT.

Another issue is that of "autologous" and "family" use. As per the FDA guidelines, the bank has to carry out certain tests before storing your baby's placenta to allow its use for other family members. If your bank does not carry out this test, then your cord-blood sample is stored "autologously", which means that the sample can be used ONLY for the baby from whom it was collected and NOT for other siblings or family members.

Finally, it is essential that your baby's blood is saved in a bank that boasts of an appreciable history and its samples are used frequently for successful transplant operations. It is important that the bank practices ethics, has a license, complies with all the required regulations, and maintains the certificates of accreditation. Although the FDA has no regulation over private banks, they DO impose regulations over blood banking as a whole.

Banking Costs

There are two kinds of fees related with cord-blood banking. The first kind is the initial fee. It includes enrollment charges, collection, and storage for a minimum of one year. For the second year, you need to pay an annual banking or storage fee. Some banks provide choices for the initial fee combined with preplanned extended time of storage. The fee can be anything between $900 and $1500 depending on how much the time is extended. The annual fee is around $100.

Although you may feel it to be an expensive affair, the cost of processing and storage in medical freezers for many years is really quite significant. Even the public banks have to invest around $1,000 unit. Commonly, the banks offer discounts at prepaid plans and payment plans to ease out the process of initial storage for you.

However, THERE IS NO COST INVOLVED IN CORD-BLOOD DONATION. The donor banks, especially the non-profit ones, take care of the cost factor for saving the cord blood. However, if you wish to store blood for your own family use, then you have to pay a certain fee. Consult your doctor for knowing more about the fees involved.

Overseas Cord blood Unit

If you wish to get an overseas unit of cord blood, the cost may be a whopping $30,000. It may cost you around $700 for collection, processing, and storage in Australia, and about $16,000 to get a suitable sample from the ACBB to be used in transplant. HOWEVER, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO AVOID OBTAINING OVERSEAS UNITS.

How to Stop Sweating - Quick and Easy Remedies

First of all, people who suffer from excessive sweating, a condition that is also known as hyperhidrosis, can consult a health care provider in order to get the best advice and the best treatment possible - but this isn't always the most effective or money saving approach.

Analyzing other health problems that may lead to excessive sweating is one of the first steps of the diagnosis. In some situations, hyperhidrosis is a symptom of medical conditions such as diabetes and hyperthyroidism. In addition, it is important to know that excessive sweating may be a side effect of some medication.

People who are curious about how to stop sweating must learn that Botox has recently become one of the most effective treatments. The people who got Botox injections in the arm pits reported that the problem disappeared in less than 6 days. Even though Botox is mainly used as a wrinkle treatment, this substance has changed forever the treatment for hyperhidrosis. The best part about this treatment is that any area of the body that sweats excessively may be treated.

How to stop sweating has become one of the most important studies of medical researchers. This is a problem that affects everybody, and not only the persons who suffer from hyperhidrosis. Botox seems to be the perfect treatment option, but it is important to know that its results do not last forever. The injections must be made twice a year in order to prevent excessive sweating from reappearing.

Also, an interesting fact about the Botox injections is that even though the Food and Drug Administration allows the use of Botox for arm pits, several insurance companies do not cover this procedure. Considering the high price of this treatment option, it is rather correct to assume that the majority of the people cannot afford getting Botox injections. In this situation, other treatments must be taken into consideration.

Can Sugar, Sleep and Activive Help Fatigue?

Fatigue is one of those conditions that you can live with for many years before you are suddenly made aware that it is adversely affecting your life. For me it was not just about feeling tired, spending a lot of time inactive but also being snappy with friends and family.

Of course being tired is a universal human experience, and in fact most people are very hard-working and feel tired a lot of the time but a person with fatigue is both physically and emotionally exhausted, and typically feel stressed by everyday life. The good news is that you can be helped.

Here are a few things that really put me straight. The first may surprise you. Rather than just changing my diet - which is common and good advise - I tried cutting out refined sugars. I gave it two weeks. For me it really cleared my head and lifted my tiredness - actually it was more profound than that but I don't want to over state it too much.

The second might also surprise you. I tried a very strict sleep wake pattern. This one was a bit of a struggle but for me it meant I was in bed by 9pm every night and my alarm woke me at 7am at which point I got straight out of bed. I wasn't trying to sleep. I was simply getting my body into routine. After a month I experienced definite improvement. It really balanced my body.

And finally my most controversial suggestion is to try a natural product that makes claims to help. There are a few on the market but the only one I have any experience of is Activive. It can not only lift your tiredness but also to work with the whole body to improve well being and sleep. The best advise I was given was to give it a shot. In truth that was probably the best advise I was given. Here is a squidoo page on it that you might find useful www.squidoo.com/activive-review.

Many will say that fatigue is simply a product of modern society. That may be so but that doesn't mean that I was willing to suffer. There are always things to try and you must keep trying. Many people have overcome the frustrations of feeling so grippingly tired all the while. I was one of them but not any more.

Tips For Boosting the Metabolism

Whether it is a middle-aged soccer mom, or a young competitive bodybuilder, a goal common among most people in the gym is a faster metabolism. The metabolism controls the basal metabolic rate - or how many calories you burn daily. A high metabolism means we are able to walk around with less body fat, and consume more calories daily while doing so. How can we boost the metabolism? Here are a few tips!

Eat Early, Eat Often.

When we awake in the morning, our bodies haven't had any calories in 7 to 9 hours. We are in a state of mini-starvation. The metabolism has slowed. It's important to immediately restore the metabolism to its pre-sleep rate by eating food within 15 minutes of waking. If your appetite is small, have a small snack - just enough to let your body know you're not facing starvation. Additionally, eat small frequent meals throughout the day to avoid similar mini-fasts of 4 to 5 hours between meals. Try to eat every 3 hours or so.

Drink Water

Need reasons? Your body burns calories when you drink cold water, and water is essential for muscle-building and fat-burning processes. Bodybuilders need 3/4 to 1 gallon of water daily, and more if you are spending a lot of time outside or using supplements. Always keep a bottle handy, and sip all day long.

Complete Your Cardio

Many bodybuilders concerned about building muscle will neglect cardio, fearing that it burns too many calories and will eat away at their muscle. While it's true that excessive cardio will cost you hard-earned muscle, a small amount of cardio (20-30 minutes, 3 to 4 times per week) should always be completed. Not only does it keep your heart and other systems healthy, it keeps your metabolism boosted. We've all seen pictures of those bodybuilders whose muscle is hidden under 30 or more pounds of fat. It's neither healthy nor attractive to wear that much body fat. Including cardio in your off-season training regimen will ensure your metabolism remains elevated year-round. This will allow you to keep adding hard-earned muscle, without adding body fat as well.

As we age, our metabolism will naturally slow. From age 25 on, we'll see a yearly decline in our BMR. The key to managing this natural decline is to include intelligent eating timing habits, lots of water, and minimal year-round cardio to ensure we keep the metabolism as high as possible - and keep us as healthy and good-looking as possible!

Choosing the Right Cord Blood Bank

While going for stem cell cord blood banking, you should look for a bank that saves blood in small batches, in either compartmented bags or multiple vials, instead of single bag or vial. This type of storage process renders you the potential to utilize your baby's cord blood on one and more occasions. At present, it is not possible, but scientists are busy finding out techniques to expand stem cells within a single unit of this blood. Therefore, if you choose a bank that uses compartmented-bag or multiple-vial storage system today, you might be able to utilize it to treat many people and many diseases someday. It feels proud to be a part of the ever-changing medical scenario.

The bank will ask you for a written permission for the storage. You will also be required to give a blood sample for testing for infectious disease and to fill a health record form. The banks keep all information identifying the mother or baby donor confidential. In case the tests carried out on the blood sample reveals information that you must know for your and your baby's health, the bank will inform you.

According to some experts, the ideal case is with the bank that subcontracts storage to some existing public cord blood bank. When we compare, the public banks have since long been under strict regulation by the FDA and have to undergo rigorous operating procedures.

If your choice is a private bank, then choose one that preserve blood units independent to the other frozen samples. The freezer, which is specially meant for this storage only, is opened lesser number of times, thus, protecting your sample from the effects of temperature fluctuations. In addition to this, you must ask the bank officials the number of successful transplants they have performed from the samples stored at their bank. The number of successes indicates how careful they are in the storage so that the stem cells remain viable when they are taken out from the freezer.

Cord blood banking has still not become a routine in hospitals. It is a process that is entirely a choice and requires planning.

Drinking Water Treatment - Is This Enough?

With the disastrous problem we have with pollution to our drinking water these days there is no doubt that some type of drinking water treatment system is required to give us a taste of what nature intended. The question is, does this treatment go far enough in treating our drinking water contamination?

Drinking water treatment began over 100 years ago by our Governments in an effort to eradicate water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. Chlorine was the chosen method of disinfection and although it was successful in doing what it was intended to, lots of other problems were created. Chlorine was chosen because it was cheap to use and not for it`s effectiveness. This same method of drinking water treatment is still used in most countries throughout the world today. This method has never been updated.

Chlorine is a toxic chemical and was used during World War 1 as a weapon. There are restrictions on the amounts of chlorine that can be added to our water supply and swimming pools but any amount is too much. Once the chlorine enters our water system it interacts with the organic matter in the water to form THM`s or trihalomethanes which are known to cause cancer, affect our nervous system functioning, and cause kidney and liver damage.

There are also the synthetic organic chemicals that enter our water such as drugs from agriculture run off, weedkiller, pest control, fertilizer, chemicals from treated timbers and industrial waste all reach our waterways one way or another. Chlorine does not remove these SOC`s and they also cause multiple health problems. Dr. David Ozonoff of the Boston University School of Public Health states, "The risk of disease associated with public drinking water has passed from the theoretical to the real. "

So, there you have it, a brief outline of our drinking water treatment system. It is very obvious that our water is becoming more polluted and unsafe every day. This result is even worse for people with compromised immune systems, the frail and elderly, babies and children. The taste of chlorinated water says it all. Water no longer tastes the way it should. In fact it is often so bad that it needs to be flavored.

The solution to this problem is to use a water filtering system to filter out the thousands of contaminants and leave good tasting ,good quality drinking water to improve your health and that of your family and pets. Do not rely on the water that comes through your tap even though it has been through a drinking water treatment. Further assistance is needed to filter out the drinking water contamination.

Hot Stone Massages Are One Way to Boost Our Blood Circulation

Did you know that blood is a tissue? Here are some other interesting facts about the blood in your body:

o Your body contain roughly 6 quarts (5.6 liters) of blood

o Blood daily travels about 12,000 miles

o Your heart beats approximately 35 million times each year

o During an average human lifetime, the heart will pump about a million barrels of blood. That is enough to fill up three supertankers!

Blood: our lifeline

We know that we need blood to live, but what exactly does it do for our bodies? The red colored liquid travels throughout our hearts, arteries, capillaries and veins. In its journey, the blood also does a little multi-tasking. It delivers oxygen and nutrients to the body's issues, while removing metabolic waste from them. The blood is rich in protein, thickens when it contacts damaged tissue, helps to control the balance of fluids in humans, and aids in the body in maintaining the correct temperature.

In a nutshell, the blood is the lifeline of the body. So that explains why good blood circulation is so vital. The blood circulation is continuous, and involves a trip that would make any frequent flyer green with envy. First, the heart pumps out blood throughout tiny vessels in the body. Then the blood meets in the veins and returns back to the heart. Afterwards, the blood flows through our lungs, and then returns to the heart again.

A small world

In this complicated process, it is vital that blood flows properly through each part that needs it. For example, the brain gets about 15% of the blood that the heart pumps out. Meanwhile, when muscles contract, they produce "metabolites" that circulating blood removes. Blood must also flow properly from the coronary arteries, to the heart. This involves about 5% of blood that the heart pumps. Next, when you are in hot temperatures, more blood is pumped to your skin (think air conditioner), but nearly no blood is pumped there in cold temperatures. Blood circulation is also important for absorbing and digesting food. Finally, though kidneys are fairly small organs, they get roughly 20% of the blood that the heart pumps out.

Problems and solutions

So what happens when someone suffers from various blood circulation problems? Many discomforts form. These include cold hands and feet, aches that excess lactic acid in the muscles cause, exhaustion, and fluid in the toes.

Several methods can be used to improve blood circulation:

o Calendula Officinalis (pot marigold plant)

o Cayenne (created from dried peppers)

o Damiana (shrub native to Central America)

o Exercising (low-impact)

o Garlic

o Ginger

o Ginkgo (Asian tree)

o Hydrotherapy (translation: hot and cold showers)

o Onions

o Reetha (herb)

o Tamri Bancha (translation: soy sauce + tea)

o Ume-Sho-Bancha with ginger (drink)

o Wine with rosemary flowers or leaves

Massage, such as hot stone massages, is another ideal way to treat poor blood circulation. The massage method helps blood to move through areas where it is getting clogged up. Also, the pressure from the massage allows new blood to flow in. The massage's pulling squeezing also removes lactic acid from the muscles. And the lymph fluid circulation is boosted. Lymph nodes are small groups of tissue where white blood cells are formed. This process is important, as the metabolic waste is transported away from the muscles and internal organs. The end result is that blood pressure is reduced and the body's overall functioning is improved.

Blood circulation serves as one of the most important functions of our bodies, providing a lifeline to various tissues and organs. Poor blood circulation, though problematic, can be solved by using a variety of techniques, including massage with hot stones. That will give us the energy to continue through our day-to-day lives.
